WRIGHTY. hi mate.I,ve just won the album off ebay, missed out on the Swedish issue single! It,s allways nice to hear versions off top tunes.Regards tim.
Guest ScooterNik Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I've always loved Georgie Fame, even his cheesier stuff like 'The Ballad Of Bonnie & Clyde'. His version of 'Saturday Night Fish Fry' still cracks me up, you can almost imagine him telling it as a story to a group of mates? 'Somebody Stole My Thunder' though, now THAT is a tune.

Gogger Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 georgie fame is on tour this year, maybe even now . no he is on in doncaster pretty soon, september i think.
Mike E Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 (edited) Evening all.How many of you out there rate his version of sweet thing. Rate it very highly and when I played it out earlier this year it packed the floor. Very classy and for me better than the Spinners , although thats good in itself. Just goes to show how good the Georgie Fame version is. Being a 1960's lad saw Georgie a lot and with the blue fames backing him, very good indeed. Roots in our music and only goes to show lots of things were happening before Wigan et al. Edited August 15, 2010 by Mike E
AlanB Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Evening all.How many of you out there rate his version of sweet thing. I like it a lot. Stands up well in it's own right, he puts his own stamp on it making it more than a pale imitation that so many Motown covers were. Alan

Guest Rich Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Evening all.How many of you out there rate his version of sweet thing. don't think its too bad at all - not as good as the Spinners version like. He also did a good version of 'Stormy' - my memory may be playing tricks, but I'm sure Jimmy Eddleston used to play this at the old Con Club doos in Lincoln early-to-mid 1990s

Guest ScooterNik Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 saw him perform in liverpool once sure he had Alan Price sittin in with the blue flames!! Sounds about right, the British R&B scene was always very incestuous!
