Pete S Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 This is part one of a two part episode containing the very best Ska music from it's true golden period. Most of these tracks come from 1965 - a few are from 1964 and 1966, and The Wailers "Simmer Down" was supposedly recorded in December 63 but it sounds just like a 'fast ska' recording from 1965, hence it's inclusion here, but it's mainly recordings from Ska's greatest year. In part two we'll see how a different, unique offshoot of the Ska developed - "Rude Boy" music. Meanwhile, enjoy these belters! https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/27907 RED HOT SKA 1965-66 PART 1 FERDY NELSON - SKA DOWN JAMAICA WAY / BABA BROOKS - VITAMIN A / THE WAILERS - SIMMER DOWN / ROLAND AL & THE SOUL BROTHERS - PHOENIX CITY / KEN BOOTHE & STRANGER COLE - ARTIBELLA / ROLAND ALPHONSO - EL PUSSY CAT / JACKIE OPEL - MORE WOOD / ROLAND ALPHONSO - ROLAND PLAYS THE PRINCE / DESMOND DEKKER - SOLDERING / BUSTERS ALL STARS - CITY RIOT / JACK SPARROW & THE WAILERS - ICE WATER / JUSTIN HINDS & THE DOMINOES - THE ARK / THE CLARENDONIANS - RUDE BOY A GONE JAIL / THE SKATALITES - BALL OF FIRE / THE WAILERS - WHAT'S NEW PUSSYCAT / SIR LORD COMIC - THE GREAT WUGA WUGA / BUSTERS ALL STARS - JET 707 / THE SKATALITES - DR.
