Mrtag Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Anyone know who used to be the DJ back then (1967/8) used to do a soul night on a Sunday evening the guy always wore a black suit, white shirt ,black dickie bow looked the dogs dangleys. In Fact I don't think you where allowed in the place with jeans on!! Always used to play stuff he had heard the night before at the Torch, In fact one Sunday they pulled out some of those school type bench's to make square on the dancefloor and had a dance competition to? I think it was two can have a party. Anyway just wondered if anyone remembers him and if he is still on the scene?? Atb John.

I didn't start going down until 70 and loved hearing the Wheel stuff from the night before. All the Mitch Ryder tracks, A Quitter Never Wins, Uptight, Its So Hard Being A Loser and all the Jackie Wilson stuff. Start of the slippery slope for me!

Hi, I was one of Mick the Feds road crew, I was one of the guys who ran on stage when the revolving stage locked in place in order to connect up the balcony speakers. we did do various competitions, the one I remember was when we got bikes that you had to pedal backwards and the steering was modified to steer the wrong way than that attempted. He eventually became a jehovahs witness and quit the profession and the last I heard he went to south africa. Some of his collection went to a local Oldham Dj and he gave me the remainder. sadly I no longer have them. As well as the burnley cats whisker he did the Oldham one, The ashton Birdcage, Rawtensatll Astoria and quite a few local venues. They were good times!!!

Hi Pete, Andy Cartridge here, very very long time no speak, we worked together with Mick the Fed & Mike Roberts at the Rose Room & at the Whiskers in Oldham, I din't know the Mick the Fed had gone to S/A! but I was wondering if you had any knowlede of Mike Roberts, Dave Saunders or any of the old gang from back in the day, & you're right when you say "good times". I can still remember the Bond Bug over to Burnley, it was the quickest that i've ever got there. Hope you get this Andy
BrianB Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 He's just hit the news in a bad way, but it reminded me that Ugli Ray Teret used to DJ at the Burnley Whiskas as well on Sunday nights, or am I a bit off on that. I know he did a lot of Manchester clubs. The Birdcage at Ashton was a great venue!
