Guest Dante Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 It probably won't qualify as northern, but the harmonica in Sonny Boy Williamson's Help Me is an absolute belter.

Guest son of stan Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Soulboy, (Danny Tenaglia) "The Harmonica Track" is always in my box when I do friends' birthdays, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx3ad4BclQQ Along with "...Mr Bloe". Both guaranteed floor fillers with the good natured, up for a laff, slightly squiffy, massive.
Citizen P Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 For a Northern Tune I (still) love the Gob Iron break in So Is The Sun for a pure R&B/ Blues workout-Juke-Little Walter Tony
Anoraks Corner Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Try this one out...it builds and builds and has a harmonica break and some super powerful brass...all over a Funky bassline Willy MacDougal - All I Want Is You - ...and let us not forget Charlie Gracie's 'He'll never love you like I do'.

timthemod Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Bar-Kays / Knucklehead Played by Booker t Jones!
TheBigO Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 All belting TOONS! but for me its got to be the mournful genius of Sammy Davis Jnr 'Not For Me' (UK Reprise) which is a toon I have been spinning on and off since my days gracing the decks in the Starlight Room at the Pier in Morecombe. To the best of my knowledge seldom if ever spun out but I look forward to being corrected
Dekka Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I've come to the conclusion that i'm at odds with everyone else on this scene I can't understand for the life of me, how no one has mentioned Junior Wells. He is surpassed only by his mentor Sonny Boy Williamson. Junior Wells crossed over to R&B/Soul with devastating effect. Checking on my Baby Party Power I cant stand no signifying I'm gonna cramp your style Are just a few which I own, but there are more. I'm not suprised I'm dissilusioned with the scene since old Burnley and Middleton finished.
