oldsteve woomble Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Here's an unusual one for you folks, and a cry for help.... I've 'lost' my Nicky Newarkers. ... I was sorting stuff to 'play out' recently, and thought the NN definitely needed to go back into the playbox for the next 'do' I was doing... But after digging in every conceivable place it could possibly be, and in ever increasing stages of upset-ness, I'm resigned to the fact that it's just 'not there' anymore.... I'm going to blame myself for not paying enough attention. I can only think that I've put it down when playing out and it's somehow got knocked off a table or something similar... Even now, I think of it lying under a stage somewhere, weeping gently and waiting for daddy to come back and take it home and make everything alright... The alternative possible reasons for it not being there are not ones that I wish to contemplate in my sunshiney world..... So! I know it's probably the longest of long-shots but if anyone has spotted a 'stray' Nicky Newarkers anywhere, or if anyone has any handy hints that could help towards us being emotionally re-united, then please pm me and let me know... A reward, and eternal gratitude, awaits..... Yours anxiously Steve
Simsy Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 What a deeply sickening and stomach churning situ to be in Steve. You have all my sympathy. Any news, whispers, anyting on this subject - will of course keep you fully informed.
Maria O Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 How dreadful Steve. If you lost it recently it might still turn up - fingers crossed . m p.s. Something similar happened to me about 6 years ago. At my last local do before moving to the other side of the planet, I was understandably a little tired and emotional on the decks and throwing records about a bit (actually, a lot). My friend found my Nicky Newarkers down behind a speaker after she'd dropped down to grab her handbag where she'd hidden it. She'd admitted that for a split second it actually crossed her mind whether she should say anything, but the guilt was suddenly overwhealming. At that moment I wasn't bothered, but after that, every now and then I get into a panic when I swear a certain record has disappeared. It takes forever, but 3rd to 6th time you look - it's back there!
Guest topcatnumpty1 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Steve--i don,t know how long you,ve had your copy of "Woman" but it cud be that it just wanted some "space and time apart",this has happened to me on a few occasions when looking 4 records in my record room-----You think they,ve gone forever, you search high and low--and just when you think it,s the end---a postcard from some far off place lands ,or a phone call--WHY--only last week i got a postcard from My Nicky James on U.K Philips(that i hadn,t seen for 3 weeks) telling me it was alive and well and having a short break in Bransholme, i,ve also heard of a copy of Denice Tichenor been sighted in St Stephen,s Centre----there just having a break--what fun can it be sitting in a record box for weeks on end, been pulled out occasionally by a (usually) drunken hand ,played--or usually put back in the wrong sleeve!!! I think if your patient and lean on Louby for support ,at this darkest of times, it will return, meanwhile U.T.T. T.C.
Cunnie Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Sorry to see it still ain't turned up Steve (take it our phone call didn't throw up any leads?). Might be worth phoning around any DJ's who you have doubled up with & the DJ's who were on before & after you at any recent events. Sounds unlikely but strange things do happen. Was DJ'ing a while back & found another copy of Leroy Hutson - All Because Of You in my record box. Said another as my copy was also there but 1 was UK & 1 was an import. Phoned around all the other DJ's who were on & got no leads & still got no idea how it got there. Still in the box & always will be as 1 day it might get claimed & it's in better nick than mine too! Know it's not worth anywhere near a N N but you never know. Might also be worth posting on EMS as well as you do a fair few Modern rooms.
