Liljimmycrank Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I'd probably put this a bit cheaper than £75 to be honest. Seen plenty for sale in recent times. But then again, £75 for a record you've fallen in love with aint alot. Hope you get one (and cheap).

Guest Perception Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 towanda barnes-you dont mean it-a&m,how much for an origonal of this please ? ive fell in love with this brill tune again thank you jason It was reissued in the 70's with a big A&M printed across the label. The Original has A&M in a box on the lefthand side of label.

Ernie Andrews Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Prefer the slower version by the Ohio Players thats only £15 tops Jason
Guest Andy Kempster Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Prefer the slower version by the Ohio Players thats only £15 tops Jason did that get a single release or is it just an album track?
Martyn Pitt Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 did that get a single release or is it just an album track? It got a single release on Compass. Do not think the actual backing is slower, it is just the vocals sang with a slightly off beat phrasing, prefer this version myself.

Guest Perception Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Prefer the slower version by the Ohio Players thats only £15 tops Jason The backing track on the Ohio Players is really good, but I findt the vocal is poor and weak compared to Towanda Barnes.
arnie j Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 Prefer the slower version by the Ohio Players thats only £15 tops Jason thanks for the heads up mate but i bought that version off here sometime ago, brilliant version and maybe better than towanda barnes ? jason

Rich B Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Don't forget the version on the LP 'Uptown' on Maple credited to Gloria Barnes, slightly different, but a really nice version - some other tracks on there worth having too. While I'm on can someone remind what track was used as the flip of the 45? best, RB
Ficklefingers Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Don't forget the version on the LP 'Uptown' on Maple credited to Gloria Barnes, slightly different, but a really nice version - some other tracks on there worth having too. While I'm on can someone remind what track was used as the flip of the 45? best, RB '(You Better) Find Someone To Love' was the flip to YDMI - also on the 2nd issue too.. The Gloria 'Towanda' Barnes LP on Uptown contains, by far methinks, the best version - along with 'Gotta Get Away', which is also a different take to that on the Jo-Mar 45.. NOT an easy album though, and with a three figure price tag !!
Jim G Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 There is one on the bay https://cgi.ebay.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-TOWANDA-BARNES-YOU-DONT-MEAN-IT-A-M-/200502743481?pt=Music_on_Vinyl#ht_3020wt_827
