Hi Manus

yeah think ur right, seem to remember something starting on the corner in a shop doorway (jewellers?), then it really kicked off. Seemed to be 3 or 4 onto one or two scruffy punks. Guess I was one of the young ones who got chased down into the carpark, and yep they lobbed stuff and we kindly threw it back to them. remember Ady hiting a soulie on the back of his head as the projectile slipped out of his hand

Grant

Crazy days Grant wouldn't have missed them for anything

Cheers

I remember getting there early one night.

And as we parked up in the car park jumping out the car and running behind a wall

cause i was bursting for a pee.

Halfway through a copper appears, and was nearly gonna nick me for it.

After begging and pleading and promising never to do it again,he let me off fortunatly.

I nearly crapped meself at the time though.

I think maybe I don't get out enough Dave - it's a bit of a trek up north from Brighton and I start to get a nosebleed if I make it as far as Rugby these days  I keep making new years lists of all the venues I'm going to visit but fail to make most of them.

Remember one of my mates throwing up a belly full of black & whites in the pub bog before a Fleet allnighter , there was skid marks & all sorts down the pan but being the trooper he was he still picked them out & re-took them ..........Are you listening M L , I know you lurk on here :D

OK , three non soul related memories ;

1) Tony Warot carrying a couple of records under his arm in the crush to get in .Harry Green asks "what you got under your arm mate?" Tony replies "hairs , what about you ?"

2) The Room behind the stage where we used to sit talking shite & where The Phantom Janitor used to keep his brushes ............who was that bloke ? Was he actully on the payroll or was he a random dosser who walked in & pilfered empty coke bottles . The bloke was like the undead .

3) Walking in through the double doors blocked & being hit by that heat ,seeing yourself in the mirror on that post & being hit by the sound , smell & condensation all in the same second ................Nothing comes close

One night in 1978,i.d arranged to meet DaveRaistrick in the record bar to buy about 5 big Detroit records off him,was sat on the Balcony looking 2 ward the record bar to see if he,d arrived (it was about 2 a.m whe my girlfriend at the time said he,s here---down we went ,Dave got out the records and i asked Pam for my wallet from her handbag(containing about £150--a fortune- then) and it wasn,t there!!!! after me shouting a lot,Mark Derbyshire from Northallerton says--"I.ll go to where we were sat ,it cud have dropped out of her handbag" all i cud see was Jimmy Mack on Palmer,Dena Barnes. etc going back to Skegness with Dave-----when we looked up to the Balcony to see Mark waving something in his hand---it was my wallet--still intact---now i,m not saying there were a lot of dodgy people went to the Casino, but i would have given long odds on getting that wallet back!!!!

LOTS of non music memories ,Webby --but that sticks in my mind----God bless you Dabbsy(Mark) and i hope you,re enjoying your life in the Bahamas

Climbing up a drain pipe at the back of the Casino, moving over the roof, knocking on the top cloakrooms skylights, so that people could open them, so we could drop in, dead cool like..........Early doors being in the Beachcomber, that would be 1974ish......scary........... Having 10 roche 2s outside front door after being sold them as uppers. Remember being in the queue and feeling woozy as fook. Went in and slept outside mr ms all night. This girl from Reading stayed with me to make sure I was ok..............Remember being inside early one morning with the sun streaming through the windows and Johnny Bragg playin........Strange what you remember associated with records.....Remember walkin along the balcony having just come up the stairs near to the bogs, when Richard introduced "Here we have the Lebaron strings with I miss my baby" Turned round and ran down the stairs straight on to the dance floor and danced my bollocks off to it. There were only about 20 people on the floor. Obviously the Casino didnt have the song as Bari Track as yet but I knew it from Blackpool. That were a good moment...................Every time The Four Perfections came on I was coming down for some strange reason................One fit girl dressed in white dancing under the flourescent light. I think she came from Lancaster..........Gail from Wigan............Shady guys wandering around with flat caps on looking at you with wild eyes............A lad called Pecker from Royton, Oldham................First time I wore my new como shoes and these 2 guys wanted them off me on wigan bus station..............Yessir you had be alert in them days...................Travelling to Wigan in my mates dads car with the battery terminals held together with mole grips..........Being dropped off right outside in the main throng another night after babysitting earlier with a girl from Bolton called Anne Robertson in a top of the range jag..............Loads more...I wouldnt change a single thing.

The Saturday night in the record bar with big Dave Thomas, watching Tim Casey cracking up, cause we had placed live matchsticks down everyone of his cigarettes, throughout his entire packet. Then Tim offering/sharing fags out to others from the same packet and loosing more friends. yes.gif.

Thats a very typical comment from Tony, and a Yate type of humour, bet Harrys still trying to work it out(them Wigan bouncers had no sense of humour)i still recall those famous words from Harry"no pushing at the back"i used to think to myself why dont the thick twat open the door and let us in then there wouldnt be any pushing at the back.

Talking about Moggy Minors .......

I once accompanied three others in a very run down Moggy Traveller ( rust holding it together , the wood rotting away from the frame , springs poking through two of the seats ...... in fact , it ran on three star wing and a prayer  ) . When we came out in the morning , we found the driver's side door had been opened . There was a note on the dashboard stating

" we were going to nick your car , but we felt sorry for you "

Malc

what a small world !my moggy thou had mushrooms growing in the wood work/window slides in the back -side windows due to the damp and rusty water dribbled in when it rained as well as shooting up through the holes in the floor oh and brakes that had to be pumped to slow down - i must have been insane or undr the influence of drugs to have driven it -----in fact so were all the others that used to pile into it along with the gasping engine an slipping clutch !!!!! oh the joys of motoring to allniters.

Remember going into the toilets once and a certain character ( not Dave Dthedrug) asking me if I wanted to buy some caps and then he pulled out a roll of caps for a cap gun - thought he was being clever until a DS came in and then there was a very hasty explanation of what he was carrying - was really funny and well deserved.

Coming out in the morning paranoid after an edgy night.

The place was full of DS - we had already been searched outside and saw the same DS in Mr M's later.

They all but strip searched us in the carpark but couldn't be bothered doing my car.

About 8am we got back to me car - a Moggy Minor :P , I kid you not.

It had wooden doors that had to be tied together to stop them falling off or opening when you went round a bend. It rained in so much the carpets froze in winter. Anyway I digress................

We get back to the car and there is a coach nearby which I swear was what the DS came in.

My mate whom I had given a lift to gets in the passenger side and opens my glove compartment and pulls out the biggest bag of pills I have ever seen.

"Good, they're still there," he says

Dropped a trip on the train to Wigan one evening, started to come up ,a mate unbeknown to us had taken a load of barbs. If you have ever seen a film slow down he was just like that, collapsed on the train floor. We had to get him on a mail trolley, into the lift, then into an ambulance.Went to the hospital, there was a couple of lads that had beeen fighting in casualty,in my state they looked like an explosion in an abbatoir.Eventually, was told my mate was ok,made the way to Station Rd,everything was Orange.....................it was the street lights, but EVERYTHING was orange.

Incidentally, the barbs killed my mate the next week.........................but thats another story.

Hi the night in question it was Calafornia Sunshine that we took, a few weeks later one of the lads had a Strawberry Fields he had a bad trip and ended up crying all night,

Like you I never had a bad trip, in the summer of 74 there was alot of Purple Pyramid going around up our way and I found that was nice as well.
