seconded, you have to remember he produced and arranged a few records for other people as well alongside luminaries such as Carl Davis, Sonny Sanders, Tom Tom Washington and Otis Leaville. A chicago legend

Here here, superb sound 'overdose of joy'.

It's such a shame when another great person goes off to soul in the sky

SAME HERE BAZ. THE CHI-LITES ARE GROSSLY UNDERATED, SOME GREAT SOLO STUFF TOO BY MR RECORD. HE WAS MARRIED TO BARBARA ACKLIN, I BET THOSE WALLS COULD HAVE TOLD SOME TALES. IMAGINE THE SING-SONGS AROUND THE PIANO......JACKIE WILSON,GENE CHANDLER ....AND LORD KNOWS WHO ELSE. ANYWAY, SAD THAT ANOTHER LEAF HAS FALLEN FROM THE TREE.

I had the great privilege of meeting Eugene at the Heavy Steam Machine in Hanley around about 1974. I happened to ask about all the Chicago acts, Curtis, Otis Leavill, Dells etc., but he was gobsmacked when I mentioned Barbara Acklin! He told me how he had said goodbye to her a few days earlier and said that she wouldn't believe her music was known in the UK.

WHAT A GREAT MEMORY,SO MANY PEOPLE FORGET THAT WE WOULDN'T HAVE A SITE LIKE THIS IF IT WASN'T FOR THESE SUPREMELY GIFTED ARTISTS. I WISH SOME OF THESE FOLK ON HERE WOULD STOP SNIPING AT EACH OTHER AND CELEBRATE WHAT UNITES US AND THAT'S OUR LOVE OF 'SOUL' IN IT'S INFINITE SHADES. WELL HEY I WAS NEARLY GETTING ON MY SOAP-BOX THEN. THANKS FOR SHARING THAT GREAT MEMORY. CHRIS :)
