ANYWAY, SAD THAT ANOTHER LEAF HAS FALLEN FROM THE TREE. link I had the great privilege of meeting Eugene at the Heavy Steam Machine in Hanley around about 1974. I happened to ask about all the Chicago acts, Curtis, Otis Leavill, Dells etc., but he was gobsmacked when I mentioned Barbara Acklin! He told me how he had said goodbye to her a few days earlier and said that she wouldn't believe her music was known in the UK.

I WISH SOME OF THESE FOLK ON HERE WOULD STOP SNIPING AT EACH OTHER AND CELEBRATE WHAT UNITES US AND THAT'S OUR LOVE OF 'SOUL' IN IT'S INFINITE SHADES. WELL HEY I WAS NEARLY GETTING ON MY SOAP-BOX THEN. THANKS FOR SHARING THAT GREAT MEMORY. CHRIS
Mike Shawe Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Yes i couldn't agree more - it should all be about the music, good times and friendships involved in this fantastic scene of ours. R.I.P. Eugene Record
