Swifty Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Just bought a copy of NORFOLK - GIFT WRAP MY LOVE - TRENTON INTERNATIONAL Does this get played or would it get played ? Great sound from 78 . Thing is I bought it blind but now realise I've heard it before but can't remember where. Looked in JM 's book and listed at 25quid but for the other side 'DONT ASK ME' Group Soul. Any Info appreciated , unfortunately can't do soundfiles Cheers Swifty
Benji Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Thing is I bought it blind but now realise I've heard it before but can't remember where. Maybe you've heard the other version by the Reflections on Capitol before?
Guest Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Brilliant up tempo dancer, should fit in northern and modern rooms...here comes the but.. But, every copy I've had has the same pressing fault where it keeps dropping the sound out of one channel in various places throughout the track (same places on different 45s as well) and it annoys the living hell out of me and is the only reason I've never been tempted to play it out.

Agree with you there Adam great record that as you say would fit both Northern & Modern rooms, can't say I 've noticed any fault on the sound but will have another listen tonight. Cheers Swifty
bri pinch Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) THINK THE REFLECTIONS VERSION IS SLIGHTLY BETTER (IMHO) OF COURSE BUT BOTH VERSIONS ARE GOOD. ITS AN A SIDE , AND THE B SIDE IS A NICE SUMMERRY SOUL FLOATER WRITTEN BY J R BAILEY AND KEN WILLIAMS ( I THINK) CALLED SHE'S MY SUMMER BREEZE, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PICK ONE UP FOR £10 - £15. BEST, BRI PINCH Edited July 13, 2010 by bri pinch

Guest Nick Harrison Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) Ha ha and talking of "Gift Wrap My Love" - Norfolk or the Reflections versions. Just listened to a rather informative interview with Ken Williams with Steve Guarnori, this morning which highlighted these tunes. Norfolk still "tops it" after all this time. Kjw Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 The issue copy of The Reflections is worth buying for the other side - 'She's My Summer Breeze' Not on the promo copies - they have 'Gift Wrap My Love' on both side
