CAN ANYONE TELL ME PLEASE ARE THERE ANY KNOWN WHITE DEMO'S OF LESTER TIPTON'S - THIS WON'T CHANGE - LA BEAT 6607

I think you,ll find there,s more chance of finding another Turin Shroud than a WD. of Lester----i ha one of the first issues in the U.K. in about 1977 and have honestly never heard of one(altho as the man with the orthopaedic shoes once said "I stand to be corrected!!"

I've never seen a w/d of this either - seen loads of Al Williams though - so maybe there is a w/d ???

gotta be so rare - it scares me, cause I'd want it so bad

Talking of the Al Williams ,i remember in the late 70,s we found out it also came out on Palmer and Ron Pedley and myself worked out that another Palmer release(Tim Tam --Wait a Minute ) came out on U.K iSLAND,so maybe there was a licensing deall between Palmer in Detroit and U.K Island ,---guess what we spent ages looking for any info about -"I am Nothing" on British Island------never found one!!!!

Hi Shute

The only La Beat white demo's are Al Williams and James Shorter Modern Day Woman both these releases were pressed at RCA who would cut White demo's as a matter of course. All the other La Beat's were pressed in Nashville.

Thanks for that info!! that explains the difference in colour on the Al Williams issue (red) to the Lestor Tiptons and other La Beat Issues (claret/maroon). Cheers John

That clears that up then - very informative you are Dave - its a pleasure knowing you

Didn't R Sterling work for RCA at one time - I seem to remember in the 70s but mind a bit blank nowadays

Also never seen anything else that came out on La Beat that also came out on Palmer exept the AL Williams ?

I think there was a mock up LT on LaBeat W/Demo on the SoulfulDetroitForum site at one time a few years ago. I made some enquiries then but no one seem to know anything about it. It's the same with the Frank Wilson Stocker and the Don Varner Veep W/Demo, once someone sees them on the web they'll swear blind they've seen a real one!

Dave

Hi Tony,

I remember once seeing a Ronnie McNier - Sitting In My Class - DeTo White Demo on there too! I think Lowell used to use a little 'poetic licence'. Great site originally but seems to have gone astray somewhat since the big split.

Dave
