Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) Hi All, I've finally made the commitment to start turfing out the dupes and multiples that have been accumulating since I stopped selling on eBay. Here's the first batch - nothing screamingly rare and/or terminally obscure, but all good records selected at random from the boxes in the attic. I'm trying to price to sell, but if you think I'm trying it on I'll listen to offers! Here goes: 60s/R&B/Northern EDWIN STARR - IF MY HEART COULD TELL THE STORY/WAY OVER THERE (US GORDY) M- £10.00 ...unplayed US Stock copy in 'The Sound Of Young America' sleeve. DH, going through the word 'Could' on that side. JAMES BROWN -NIGHT TRAIN (US KING) M - £10.00 ...fabulous copy with one thin surface mark on A side. Looks like it's not been played more than a couple of times. JAMES BROWN - SHOUT AND SHIMMY (US KING) EX £10.00 ...one of JB's best ravers from the classic 'Famous Flames' period. Also done by the Who, of course. Great copy! IKE & TINA TURNER - I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU SAY (US KENT) VINYL M-/LABELS EX++ SOLD ...Terrific copy of old 60s standby, with onlytwo purple felt pen crosses and one small biro asterisk on label to spoil that 'mint' effect! JIMMY McCRACKLIN - I'M GONNA TELL YOUR MOTHER (US KENT) VINYL M/LABELS VG+ £10.00 ...fantastic 50s early New Breeder, really rockin' R&B. Water damage to both labels, vinyl looks almost unplayed RICHARD BERRY - LOUIE LOUIE/HAVE LOVE WILL TRAVEL (UK FLIP) M £10.00 ...Ace's limited edition facsimile 45, pressed to celebrate their acquisition of the Flip catalogue. Large centre, looks like an import but isn't. A cheap way to get two classics on one legit 45! THE TOYS - WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME BABY! (US VIRGO) M- £8.00 ...legit mid 70s issue of this otherwise album only version. As good as the Invitations and the only way to get it on 45! ROBERT PARKER - I CAUGHT YOU IN A LIE (US NOLA) M - SOLD ...bought my first copy of this for a fiver in 1971, when I was only taking home seven quid a week! All time classic, brillian copy, every collection should have one! WILLIE WILLIAMS - HAVE YOU EVER BEEN PLAYED FOR A FOOL (US ABC DEMO) EX+ £60.00 ...books at a ton or thereabouts. Relentless Chicago dancer, vinyl in great shape, labels a little bit grubby but nothing serious. Bargain for someone! BENNY SPELLMAN - FORTUNE TELLER/LIPSTICK TRACES (US BANDY) M- £8.00 ...legit mid 70s repress, taken from the original mastertapes. Need one say more? THE JADES - YOU'RE SO RIGHT FOR ME (US MGM DEMO) VINYL EX+/LABELS VG £5.00 ...actually the labels would be closer to M- if some clown hadn't removed the 'not for sale' parts of both labels with a razor blade! Classic Motown soundalike, also done (but not as well) by Breanda and the Tabulations and the Satin Bells. Fine cheapie, even with the LD... THE VIBRATIONS - CANADIAN SUNSET (US OKEH DEMO) EX £8.00 ...classic 60s dancer that many regard as the vocal to San Remo's 'Hungry For Love' Few light marks, none affecting play... BEN E KING - I CAN'T BREAK THE NEWS TO MYSELF/BOBBY SHEEN - SOMETHING NEW TO DO (UK WEA) M £5.00 100% legit reissue to promote the 'After Hours' series of CDs. Great chepaie for someone who just wants the tracks on 45 without paying out for originals. GARNET MIMMS - LOOKING FOR YOU (UK UNITED ARTISTS) EX++ NO CENTRE £50.00 Superb UK copy that stupidly had its centre removed by a previous owner. Still a bargain at £50.00 even so... THE UNIQUES - NOT TOO LONG AGO (UK PYE INTERNATIONAL) VG++ £50.00 ...All time favourite of mine, plays more like a Mint Minus than a VG++ . Nice bargain for someone! THE MAJORS - I'LL BE THERE (UK LIBERTY) VG £8.00 ...Big old Twisted Wheel classic that nobody ever talks about these days! Still sounds great 43 years after I first heard it... NINA SIMONE - DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD (UK PHILIPS) EX+++ £8.00 ...the original and, for many, the best version. Nina's Phillips 45s are all great. PAUL ANKA - CAN'T HELP LOVING YOU/WHEN WE GET THERE (UK RCA DEMO) M- SOLD ...at least one truly great record got played at Wigan, then:lol:! Respectable way to won one of the best pop stompers of all time... PHILLIP MITCHELL - FREE FOR ALL (UK JAY BOY DEMO) EX++SOLD ...It's actually closer to M- but Jay Boy's pressings are crap, of course. Don't forget that it has a terrific flip, too! THE CHANTS - AIN'T NOBODY HOME/FOR YOU (UK PAGE ONE) EX++ £15.00 ...Nice, soulful UK recorded versions of Howard Tate and Spellbinders classics respectively. Got to be a bargain for someone! BO DIDDLEY - WHO DO YOU LOVE/BO'S TWISTER (UK PYE INTERNATIONAL) EX++ £15.00 ...Possibly the most exciting record ever made, should need no sales pitch at all from me! Terrific copy, too... VARIOUS ARTISTS - STATESIDE A GO GO EP (UK STATESIDE DEMO) M/M £15.00 ...Promo EP issued in the late 90s by EMI to promote the relauch of Stateside. Contains "Seven Days Too Long", Baby Washington's version of "I Can't Wait Until I See My Baby's Face" and two other not so soulful tracks. Lovely glossy pic sleeve, too - totally unplayed copy! ...AND, TO FINISH, A BIT OF NEWER STUFF; BOBBY WOMACK - HOW COULD YOU BREAK MY HEART (UK ARISTA) M £25.00 ...only someone who's been in a coma for the past 20 years would need a description for this one... THE SPINNERS - IT'S A SHAME (US V.I.P. DEMO) EX £8.00 ...all time classic, nice demo, slight tears on on label where a sticker has been removed, t'other is totally clean... SAM MOULTRIE - I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU (US SOUTHBOUND) M £20.00 ...the second version, almost as good as the one on Warren. Unplayed ex-shop stock! CARL SIMS - HOUSE OF LOVE (US PAULA) M £10.00 ...more unplayed ex-shop stock and another instant floor filler from the Golden Age Of Modern Soul! NATE EVANS - MAIN SQUEEZE (US TWINIGHT REISSUE) M SOLD ...legit recent reissue from the Numero people. A steal for anyone who doesn't want to copy me and shell out the big bucks for an original!!! JO ARMSTEAD - WON'T YOU JOIN THE BAND/GOT MY TASTE (US PREACHER ROSE) M SOLD ...more unplayed ex-shop stock to round this one off. One of Joshie Jo's finest ever ballads and (I think) a cut from her unissued Gospel Truth album from the 70s. A must have especially at this price... Cheque preferred, PayPal accepted if sent as a gift. P & P UK - £1.00 for first single and 30p per single thereafter P & P overseas - please PM for quote... Another lot will go up next week if I shift enough of these to make it worthwhile! Happy hunting... TONE Edited July 12, 2010 by TONY ROUNCE
