July 5, 201014 yr I'm pretty sure neither release is "local", they were both distributed nationally. One just got picked up by the larger label (epic) for better distribution.

July 5, 201014 yr I think you are wrong maybe how did the "local release" copies get to chicago as store stock, which I have found before? what else does "local release" even mean except that it was only distributed locally? it's a smaller label / less distributed release that got picked up by a larger label. Jerry Ragavoy was a major producer.
July 5, 201014 yr interesting. i know absolutely nothing about it (only that its a great record). would be interested to know more, especially which was the first release

July 5, 201014 yr Rags was the first label- Jerry decided to start his own label but once he found out that distrbutors weren't in a rush to pay anyone he decided to place the record with a major. By this time the record was a hit and Epic ended up with it.
July 5, 201014 yr Remember Lou Courtney being pretty upset that Epic hardly promoted the material at all. The album that spawned this 45 is a World Class piece of work, that everyone should seek to own. Sean
