I miss Northernsoul!

I have two little guests staying at my house for a month, they are here for another three more weeks and I am missing my Northern Soul!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't think I'd miss it quite so much until this morning when we packed them off to the dentist and I played "The Flirtations - Stronger than Her Love"

Wow, I am missing our wonderful music and it's just not enough to me to hear it cold without a load of like minded loonies giving it large on a sprung dance floor.

I have played "The Flirtations - Stronger than Her Love" three times now and I shut my eyes and I want to be at....................... Stoke!

Much as I love my Modern and under played Newies, I want to dive head first into the crashing waves of Oldies!

Have there been any tracks that inspire you to get out and about?

Stronger than Her Love has got me looking at my calendar.

What makes you want to get out to dance?

"Get It Baby" - Stanley Mitchell at full blast!

100% unadulterated Northern Soul with the most relentless Detroit Rhythm section of all time, a brilliant Wylie/Hestor production and vocalist who has no other purpose in life other than to whoop, holler and shout "C'mon and Get It Girl" every 10 seconds or so.

That gets my blood circulating!

I know where you're coming from Simon, my shiftwork totally isolates me for 4 weeks out of every 8 and miss several decent soirees because of it.....my consolation being I have a trawl through the vinyl collection at least once a week and blast a few tunes out.....Today's Detroit day, so if the winds in the right direction you may hear Mike Terry's Sax in all its glory courtesy of Bari Track.....finest instrumental of 'em all IMHO, followed by the Masqueraders, Edward Hamilton, Duke Browner and then some.........It'll help keep me sane until my next jaunt "North"

Good call, one track that's never failed me. Still hits the spot whenever I hear it.

So simple but it has everything.

Just hope that after 2.46 of hollering she actually got it

This tune always takes me back to the Casino. An old buddy, Pongo from Clitheroe used to stomp big time to this.

Tremendous record.

some good one's mentioned so far but for me it has to Gene Chandler, There was a time.

Those horns, the driving beat and the ending of " They call me the woman handler, you ain't seen nothing yet until you seen me doing the Gene Chandler "

rousing stuff !!

Been hammering the Chesterfields this week, as one of the charming Irish crumpet put it on a birthday CD containing my top 30 classics from the recent poll on here. Thanks Kev, you're a sweetheart  Been finding myself taking the long way round in the car just so I can play the CD a bit longer, and can't keep the smile off my face when it's on. Didn't go out at the weekend, and now I'm absolutely clucking to get out somewhere yes.gif

Was playing it indoors yesterday, singing away, and Justin spun into the living room just in time for us both to do the synchronised "HUH!" after the chorus

Sometimes, only a little bit of Butch will do...

chesterfields - think it over -
