Dave Harrison Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Just want to add my condolences to Gill & the family. Truly devastating news received from Jim on Friday. Yet another of our soul mates leaving us so early. You'll be sadly missed Glen. Dave H
Charlie Rees Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 We are absolutely devastated losing our soulmate Glenn. Words can't describe how we feel. Glenn my heart is broken - Jim. You were the heart and soul of the macc lads - winning the quiz last week at cleethorpes was a brilliant accolade. Dont know how we are going to carry on without you. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to you Gill, Louise, Kelly and the rest of the family. One of Glenns favourite 45's was Mr Heartache by Freddie Scott - thats how we feel now We'll never forget you, rest in peace Glenn Liz and Jim Dear Liz and Jim When you called me on Friday to tell me of Glens death, I was literally coming in from work and Heidi answered the phone fully expecting the normal light hearted banter that we are used to when you call. Before she handed the phone to me, she tried to warn me that you were upset, but nothing could have prepared me for the news. John Baxter called later and we both just broke up on the phone, nothing can prepare us for events like this. I did as you asked and called the lads, and then went in to the garden with a beer and cried. Paul Temple came round and we gradually tried to cheer ourselves up, remembering the great times we had with Glen and the rest of you guys from Macc, I don`t feel much better now although my family have tried all weekend to lift my spirits, shame the same cannot be said about our football team although that is an irrelevance compared to what has happened to Glen. Mr Heartache sums it all up. See you at the funeral, we need to give Glen an appropriate send off Love Charlie
Chalky Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I don`t feel much better now although my family have tried all weekend to lift my spirits, shame the same cannot be said about our football team although that is an irrelevance compared to what has happened to Glen. Mr Heartache sums it all up. Ronniesoul Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 This is really hard to take Glenn (Bunner) was such an inspiring soul fan, extremely knowledgeable and allways willing to share will really miss his chats. Allways had such great stories about record hunting and the artists he met which was a passion, the record he allways was most proud of was Love Friends and Money James Lately (What a record !) Glenn was allways with us at Prestatyn at the pub on a Saturday afternoon where we had such a good laugh Jim Smirk, Andy Roberts, Ron Roberts, Dave Gosling, Glyn Genders, Johnny Vare, Dave Pointon(another one gone) so wont be the same. Quote from Glenn from Dells at Trentham Gardens "Dont just take my word for it ask anybody who was there on the night and they will tell you these boys were the best live act to visit the UK ever" Such a passionate soul fanl who will be greatly missed, all our thoughts are with Gill and the famiyl in your loss such a brilliant guy, devastating. Ron, Andy, Dave and Glyn.
greenways Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Was deeply saddened by the news of Glens death when Fergie told me at Bridlington yesterday, myself and Gilly spent a week last year in Chicago with Glen, Jim and the lads, Glen was in heaven when Jimmy Burns sang Gypsy woman especially for Glen, we had an absolute ball, one of Life's greats, will be sadly missed on the soul scene, a lovely , lovely man, Deepest sympathy to the family and all his very closest mates. Steve Gainey & Steve Gill. Hull
Guest veep1296 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Just arrived back from Bridlington where we received a text from Bev Moore about this tragic news. We had only known Glenn since early 2004 when we met him & Jim under unforseen circumstances at Sandbach Services on our way to Kev Roberts first Soul trip USA in LA. Therafter we met up on the subsequent Soul Trip USA's & at Prestatyn etc & always had a great laugh with him. We cannot really add to what has already been said above about a great man. The last time we met was at Alan Pollards funeral last December . We will remember him fondly for sure. Condolences to his family & those close to him, David & Janet Ferguson

Guest REVILOT Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Very sad to hear the news of Glen. I remember him back in the late seventies and he always had great musical taste. Met up with him again last year at The Railway Club in Southport and he was still as interested in what I was playing nowadays / collecting etc.. A great guy and a sad loss to the Soul scene.

steve z Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Dear Glen,I always believed as healthy as you are you would be the last soul collector in the universe.Jim phoned me last night to tell me of this devastating information ,that you are no longer with us.He could not stay on the phone because he is so upset as am I.A Greatstone stalwart and fantastic ,knowledgeable ,collector of some of the rarest tunes available .I used to rib him when Bury beat Macclesfield on the occasion that they did. I shared many 1 to 1 conversations with him at the Greatstone and other qualitiy event 'cos thats where he would be.Its my turn to get the next round in when we meet up again Glen.Miss you Glen ,Stevie Z
Pete Coulson Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 just seen the sad news, it seems we always loose the best first, top bloke, R.I.P Glen.

At least we have got the treasured memories of all the great soul nights we had together and now all our thoughts go to Gill and your daughters. We will never forget Glen god rest . Bob and Cath Scott, Stu Scott, Johnny & Val Crutchley, Jack Harrison, Jimmy Hamnett, Wayne Skeffington, Les Hare and all the people who knew Glen in Tameside.
DESPENZA Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 This is really sad , absolutely devastated , i still can't believe our mate glenn has gone , what a great guy a real gentleman who would stand up for his beliefs and would not see anyone done wrong, he who would do anything for his family and friends . On the soul side he was a 100 percent dedicated . to the scene artists musicians records etc so much passion it was unbelievable . I first met glenn in the mid 80'S when we both transferred to new jobs at the company we worked for . another great soul character Jonah from oldham said to me you should have a chat with that tall guy glenn he used to go to the casino and all over the place so i approached him . we got on well and he told me he lost interest when the pop stuff was being played at wigan so had not bothered for a few years but he still had some records so the next day he brought them to work to see if i was interested in any of them and we went through them on our dinner break, i said are you sure you want to sell them .yeah they're no use to me he said so we did a bit of a deal. A few days later i asked him if he wanted a tape of somethings i had bought over the last few years sam fletcher freddie houston etc , ok then i 'll have a listen . i warned him it's not your 100mph stuff from 1976, about a week passed no mention of the tape so i asked him" what do you think of the tape glenn did you like any of them " he replied " they're shite man they're all too slow " at least he was honest and said what he thought . about a month later while having a brew in work he says " Chris can you do me another tape some of those records have really grown on me ," what the shite ones " . Glenn was on a mission he loved the music more than most people i know he wanted to know every detail about the artists labels everything buying more and more records every week , every day it was a pleasure going to work knowing you could spend a few hours swapping record lists fanzines tapes and talking soul and football and having a laugh . Glen always got autographs and memorabilia from the artists he met and usually a copy for me ,he usually managed to find some of my long time wants at the weekenders and soultrips and tell me all the info and current goings on . what more could you want . Over the last few years we would meet up at the greatstones manchester with jim smirk and the macc lads and always have a great night all taking the mick out of each other and everybody else . Like our mate steve says it;s never gonna be the same again. Thanks for the friendship and laughs mate R.I.P. GLENN and our condolences to Gill and the girls. Chris and denise churm
