Alan Day was a one of the greatest imho, I first heard his unique style at the Bletsoe nighter way beck then although his dress sense was a tad suspect :hatsoff2: put a mic in his hand and record on a deck and he WOULD "take the roof off".

It was so nice to see and watch him perform, yes perform on the stage at the Tunstall Torch Reunion last year, he had those packed into the Ryan Hall in his mits within 5 mins.

He rang me Saturday morning for a chat suggesting he'd recently gained access to this forum and was genuinely embarrassed (which is Alan Day talk for really chuffed ) at the comments left after the last Tunstall Torch Reunion regarding his contribution to the event.

He asked me if I could pass on his thanks to everyone who posted and is looking fwd to meeting everyone again on Oct 23rd in Tunstall

As Ian says up there with the very best. The name Day (and indeed Ellis)at a nighter in the very early 70's meant you were where you want to be. No ifs or buts ----it wouldn't get any better.

One enduring and may I say endearing moment from last year was the sight of Alan and Max(RIP) sitting at the top of the stairs getting a breather from the heat in there and having a good ole chinwag------fooking brilliant.

I thought at the time--2 ex Cats DJ's together reminiscing . I wonder when the last time their paths had crossed?????

....oh and I owe Alan Day a tenner cos he said I hadn't changed much since back then lol.

He did us all proud last year(big thnks to KR as well on that) and we look forward to welcoming him back to Tunstall again, one more time.

Do you all remember him at the Up The Junction nighters also, in that glass DJ box(whatever it was)----quite a bizzarre place that!!

Great post / reply Jez :hatsoff2:

As for the DJ box at The Junction , he used to move around in it like a caged lion

As you say , looking forward to welcoming him back in / to Tunstall in October .
