I've got a yellow label one. I seem to remember these surfaced in the late 1980s. Not sure where they came from.

Another one not in the book then, must admit I thought the yellow were original never seen a blue one.

I don't think many have seen a blue one. Very very rare unless I'm mistaken.

seen two blues for sale in the last year / 18 months - one on a funk forum one on a sales list. not sure if they are same copy but certainly two different sellers.

Always thought the yellow issue was the original and only one I.e. Another excellent cheapie. Does this mean I can't play it out now in case the ovo police are watching or as it appears to be a legit reissue, I'd get away with a caution?

i bought my yellow copy thinking it was the original release and found out shortly after that it was a legit 2nd issue, the blue original issue is quite pricey and bloody hard to track down

awesome track though, i have played my yellow one out when soul police were evident and wasn't pulled up on it so draw your own conclusions from that. seems like the same scenario as so many others, legit (legal) second issue works

probably just crucified myself publicly there but...ah well

Isn't there some kind of annoying sound drop-out on the intro of the yellow reissue as well?

I don't see how the yellow label issue can be of interest to anyone who only collect original issue 45s. It's a bit like making do with the gold label reissue from the 90s of Four Voices "Your Love Is Getting Stronger" and pretending that it's an original. Might as well play the tunes from CD/MP3/WAV in my opinion.

I think its a VERY over rated and over priced record!!!

People buy selected re-issues just to play at home, a lot of people dont like CDs / MP3 etc!

Understand where your coming from Sebastian but I think at the very least its a legal re-issue which suffices until a blue one comes along (or doesn't!). I can't place a mp3 on my shelves alongside my other 45s from the label!

The thing is that I don't get how a reissue (legal or not) can suffice when you otherwise collect original issue 45s?

On the other hand I love CDs (unlike a lot of people on here it seems) . It's probably my absolute favourite format as far as home listening goes and I don't mind having tunes that I can't afford original 45s of on CD or other digital media.

Horses for courses, I guess.

Not everyone wants to collect original vinyl, they just want it on vinyl.rolleyes.gif

i'm agree with the original policy of Sebastian...only in my little bar of my city sometimes play some reissue or some cd...but in the mainly event or when i burnt a show to share or also when i speak of an 45 that i've is only because i've it in original first release...i think is an common rare music policy....and is the right way of the game...

however i got in cross with this track by an trade list and i passed on it after understand is an 2nd press....i can listen it via mp3...and there are so much music that i can spin/buy in original way....so i can pass to spend 20£ for a 2nd press...

but it is only my point of view...

however i never scandalized myself if i see someone that have spin a reissue...there are so many reason to do that...or not to do....buy i think is an personal way to approach at the music or at djing

Me, too.

I don't like CDs, but if I can't afford a 45 (and I often can't), I'm happy to have it on the iPod. If I had a reissue (no matter how legit it was) I'd be kidding and trying to fool myself.

Thanks for your concern. I acquired my yellow label copy as part of a huge pile of trades about twenty years ago. But you've pricked my conscience and the guilt of owning it is now eating me up. I can't sleep at night. I feel like such a fraud. Please can you advise me on the correct way in which to dispose of it?

Life is very short, you know.

Give it a rest, I wasn't having a go at anyone, just stating my thoughts on this.

Life is indeed very short, that's why I'll never understand the need to buy reissues at £10-£20 a pop to get ONE tune to play at home, when that money could be spent much more wisely and result in more musical pleasure.

This is all in my opinion ofcourse. I'm not forcing anyone to share my view.

Sebastian, I understand what you're saying but this term "original" is such a grey area.

I understand the term "reissue" as in copies pressed up due to demand from the northern, funk or whatever scenes.

Contemporary national releases picked up from small press local releases are really "reissues" and not originals. There is only one original and that is the first release.

For many different reasons there are many different types of record collector ----

Any issue, legit or bootleg as long as it's on vinyl.

Any issue as long as it's contemporary and legit ie a national release.

First issues only and nothing but.

Different collecting heads and different pockets.

No probs, broth'.

I know what you mean. I have always wanted to read "Great Expecations" by Charles Shakespeare but I'm saving myself til the OG turns up in my local charity shop. ;-)

Was just giving my view of things.

No you weren't. Cds, mp3s and all that? There weren't no cds or mp3s when most of us picked up these terrible, illegal records.

Any chance of keeping to the original topic for once instead of dropping into ovo v re-issue v boot v cd v mp3 part 28764.

Just to keep to topic got the yellow re-press & genuinely thought it was a first press at the time.

Great record too.

i had a yellow one up until recently and to be honest its one of those 45s that i kept for years to pull it out of the sleeve, play it , say to myself, you know something dave its crap that. then pop it in its sleeve and file it. this happened untill recently but instead of filing it, i found myself putting it on ebay................................ it made £7.......... oh the joy lol. perhaps if the label had been blue it might have made me £70. the moral of my story tho is its a crap record whatever label colour.

I'm sorry mate. I wasn't being entirely serious. No offence intended.

And I agree, it's one of those records that you think is great..until you play it!
