abbeyrnb Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) Hi for sale Not an easy one to find LULU GODFREY " MOANIN' " FINCH RECORDS 2002 . Great Mid-tempo female RnB dancer with a jazz influence . Strong vocals with a good well paced backing track and one I couldnt find much about . Vynil Vg has several marks , scuffs and scratches nothing deep plays well with a little background noise and a few pops take a listen . Hi bud yes diffrent slant on T M for sure . I think this is an old blues standard that has been done by a few . Interesting that you aint heard it out either maybe wasnt the right pace for the time sounds right for now to these ears anyway !
michael-j Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Moanin' was a jazz instrumental written by Bobby Timmons (who also wrote Dat Dere) whilst in Art Blakey's band - it later had lyrics added, just like Work Song, Watermelon Man, Comin' Home Baby, etc the Lulu Godrey is a great version, bought mine about 4 or 5 years ago and never seen one since. NY label, not the same Finch label as the Albert Washington 'Ramble' etc which is from Ohio

I picked this up about 2 years ago and again like you never seen another so I thought it might a tough one to get. I have the A Washngton one too so knew it was a diffrent label but didnt know where it was from . ATB Steve H
