Sorry if this is already up elsewhere.

Same guy who was selling the paintings last week has an apparently super-rare record for sale.

Listened to it, quite nice, I might pay £50 for it on a good day maybe.

To my ears it has that Ramsey Lewis "Wade In The Water" feel to it.

Guys hoping a bit though, unreal some of these folks.

Agree it's a jazz track really, don't see what it has to do with Popcorn either. Mind the guys from Belgium, very odd bunch of dealers over there. I noticed a few of them in the last month on Ebay with 'Buy it now' prices to make your eyes water.

Can't get the 'listen here' to work?

It's okay now, all sorted. Nice record, wouldn't mind it in my collection.

I love the tune - Sounds like somthing Johnny Lytle or Cal Tjader would do, that type of cool Mod jazz club thing going on.

As for the price - dunno if the Jazzers are paying dosh like that for one off things.

Who knows ?

But I doubt it, they are not generally as mad as Soul collectors.

Nice sound tho.

Nice tune but completely way out on price surely?. And from a guy with no feedback?? Although he does have a large walk in popcorn store apparently.... He could say where couldn't he?

Exactly! If he owned a "A LARGE OUT OF PRINT POPCORN WALK- IN -RECORD STORE FOR 20 YEARS", then i'd say it would help him a great if he could give up the name and some more info.

I have been in his shop in Antwerp ;only small and no prices on his 45s and his prices are much too high, i told him i could get the same in England for alot cheaper but he would not move on his prices,he didnt seem interested in selling unless you pay his price, never been back.

Yes, I know who you mean. And if it's the same chap, he's really a nice fella but his prices can be quite PRICEY. blink.gif

Still, doesn't seem to account for this anomoly. no.gif

It's absurd to call anything the rarest record in the world. Obviously, given the number of one-offs in collections, there's something like a 2,000-way tie for first when it comes to "rarest."

eheh i know a lot of peoples that would add two zero on your fiver to get a copy...check popsike

Have done on the second one.

Yeh but they are not one-offs,one 53$ and the same one 300 and odd $s and of lps

First one there is millions of em.

wouldnt the rarest record in the world have to be something that is proven to exist at one time, yet nobody has turned up a copy, not even a one off acetate..? Haha just trying to wrap my simple mind around the idea of the rarest record in the world

Exactly, it's just an acetate - plenty of acetates of unissued stuff out there. And many better than this. Loads in fact.

yes; and this is not particularly that good at all. i was at a niter recently when some DJ played 2 unreleased acetates, claiming they were the dogs and they were F**king awful. no need for it IMO.

That's interesting Dave - can you say who it was?

there are some excellent acetates out there, also some that are rubbish. Think we're all agreed on that

not a one off for sure but are both very rare...enrique salas still be a two copy known (mine the one goes up on ebay for 53$) and the second now in the hand of a well known NYC dj.....is an venezuelan lp

Alfredito Linares one....is released also on an his lp but the 45 actually are known only in an handful of copy....

however my post is only to say there are a lot of very rare records that are far better of the one on ebay...that goes for more human price...and at all i ever buy in my taste not if it is an rare one (one off two off etc etc) like all here.... i think...i've spent also probably silly money for an 45(three copy located)... https://www.divshare.com/download/10941036-c74 (my actually most payed 45) but hey THIS IS A MONSTER OR NO???

at last...usually i like your taste ken i ever listen your post in the forum and are ever brilliant...but i don't like so much your acetate...

Your missin the point, its not about rare its about unreleased one-offs..............if you lived in venezualia there might be 100's of em,and no they are not any better than the one posted.but if you like em good on you.biggrin.gif

i can see how the excitement of possessing an exclusive acetate might make a person convince themselves that its really really good when really its just mediocre.. Everyone wants to find that something special.. Hell ive done it with regular non acetate issues..convinced myself something was great just cos it was "unique" or something.. Ha

Ive just asked him a question - How does he know its a one -off? Has he got written provenance to say so- I await his reply!

AS for price - Ive got aLP Acetate with provenance that it was recorded by the writer and is a one off that was sent to Stax - Should I ask £15,000 for it:laugh:

Absolutely off topic, and I'm sorry, but I don't get this kind of stuff.

"X played a b and c but i won't name names". Why not? If you don't like it that's absolutely up to you. The Dj might be your best friend, all you're saying is you don't like a record he's playing. If he gets it the wrong way that's his problem. Or you don't want people to know you didn't like those records, or you told the DJ they were absolutely fabulous and can't let him find out the truth?

I really don't get it.

if the DJ was my best friend then i would tell him. but i have respect for any one who gets up there and DJs and if i don't like something then that is down to my personal taste and i dont want to go on a public forum and diss a couple of records i don't like - when most of the people on here (SS) wont have heard the records, or more importantly, the rest of the (good) set and then make an opinion on the DJ and the set just because i don't like a couple of the records...

Fiar enough.

But, for the record, I wouldn't make an opinion of anything based on you not liking it, maybe you're worrying too much

Yeah, got this. I note that it cuts off just at the point where Roy Castle is about to start doing his "scat" vocal.

Actually I quite like it. Am sure tho, you can find similar stuff in your local charities on £1 easy listening LPs if you want to work that hard....

And the acetate sounds like its about to fall apart.

Other than that - worth every penny, I'd say!

Nope Nev Dave was raising a point about a rare acetate being bollox not dogs bollox. The point being rarity does not = quality once again. Quite a well known DJ too as I understand it.

Beg to differ Steve but go back and read....Dave distinctly said the dj in question playing 2 acetate and describing them as the dogsyes.gif to which Dave said "F**king awful leave it out"

Well known dj or not
