ImberBoy Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Linda Clifford's "Surprise" seams to be getting a few dust off spins, not sure if this is classed as a big play? Bri, Tranells Blessed with a love is a right floor packer at the mo mate with a big price tag, I can see how some don't like it but it flicks my switch, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucHQxemIebA

Its THE version for me. which came first tony ashley "just a taste" is massive right now I agree - I first heard the James Phelps version at Micky Powneys house in Birtley in 1975 and I remember being bowled over by it - I think Mick's still got his copy. It was great to hear the different takes getting plays out in the late 80's - it's a really great tune and I don't think there's a bad version but James Phelps is my favourite. Cheers Manus

But the Dee Edwards is going for between £70 and £100 and not even that rare. Prefer Timebox version of Beggin on UK Deram than Frankie Valli. Neither classic Northern but love the Dee Edwards.(Bump shop or GM)

Ted Massey Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Charles johnson been playing that for over 6 months now
Chalky Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 The Willie Tee is probably the "newest" biggie listed, it has been known about for some time but only played out really in recent times, Sir Joe getting the recognition it deserves and as Tony said Parliaments has been around for a few years now. The rest are practically oldies now. Butch is playing some fabulous stuff at times, so is Andy Dyson, he played some great stuff in Notts last weekend. Butch's Four Perfections cover up one of his current biggies, Eddie Daniels reactivated by both Butch and Andy Dyson getting noticed once again, did it ever get any serious turntable action in the past?Just gonna go and listen to Alfie's selection.
Corbett80 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) I asked around about this just prior to it seeing action and the info i gleaned was its never received much attention at all due to rarity, although was weirdly booted. Glad its being played now as its a stonking 45 Edited June 6, 2010 by corbett80

Hi Brian, love the Satin, but i think every version of this record is great, still always prefer Nate Evans & Buss, and think the unreleased Magnetics (ok it got a Grapevine release, but you know what i mean) are tremendous versions, Richie Havens is another brilliant version, but i can't for the life of me get that record.
