Guest Kolla Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Mmh... the former wife of Miles Davis no less. I thought she was brilliant. I have a few of her albums - Anti-love song (self-titled debut album finally appeared in 1973) is probably my favourite. She largely dispappeared from the music scene after her third album didn't sell as well as it should have. It didn't help that religious groups protested over her concert appearances (several were canceled), and radio stations refused to play a lot of her "extreme work". Apparently she's living in Pennsylvania these days (where she was born), happy to be out of the spotlight , despite a ridiculous persisting rumour that she died a drug addict years. There have been a few articles written about her in the past couple of years but bizarrely none of these journalists have been able to locate her. I wish your pal luck.
TheBigO Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 The only person I know of to have recently tracked her down in 2002 was a journo by the name of James Maycock and he stated then that she was reclusive it won't be easy. Dont have a contact for said journo either. Sorry.
Guest Kolla Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 I retract my sentence about journalists Here is a link to the said article that Big O mentioned:- The Witty, Wicked World Of Betty Davis And a biog on James Maycock if that's any use. James Maycock can be contacted through the Profile Artists Agency in London (who represent him for DJ bookings). Their address is: enquiry@profileagency.co.uk
