Mal C Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Been a little while since we had a record scan fest, I've meant to do Bobby Bland one for ages, so here goes from around the globe. The Aussie W&G is the best made release you will get from down under, Festival made discs are shocking quality, this is as thick as a One Dearful 45, PROPER chunk of vinyl, and sounds great! Canadian ones look Great also, Its only recently I've been picking up the red ones though, anybody seen demo's on these, or are the red's Demo's? Mal.C.
Mal C Posted May 29, 2010 Author Posted May 29, 2010 1'st issues and some nice Mini LP and Juke Box discs, anybody got any more? also I'm told they has Pic covers?? Mal.C.
Mal C Posted May 29, 2010 Author Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) Only yank Orange or Pink I don't have, Sad feeling is a Great 45, very underrated, or maybe just missed, anybody know who the male and female singers are on this 45, cause it does not say on the Canadian Issue?? One of the nice French EP's as well, cover is in the post below, and the 45 Release of getting used to the Blues.. M Edited May 29, 2010 by Mal.C.

Mal C Posted May 29, 2010 Author Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) Some nice scans above. Here are a few others: cool, Sad Feeling on a Yank Orange, ssame again no credits for the two singers on this song... Its become a firm favorite of mine, real Moody striding pace.. EP's, so I have NO5, you can put your hand up for NO1 and NO4, do we know what else came out? Pikeys Dog who I remember from Dave Flynn's site, mentioned ages ago these would have come with Pic sleeves, but I've never seen one.. M Edited May 29, 2010 by Mal.C.

M Righto, The Jukebox Compact 33s (the ones numbered 1 thru 5 - which is the entire album split over 10 sides) came in a branded envelope stating 'Seeburg Album of the Week' or similar - these packs included title strips and paper 7" reproductions of the album sleeve for putting in the Jukeboxes. The Jukebox EPs with more than 1 track per side came in thick card 7" sleeves with the album coverslick pasted on one side - these also include title strips and smaller (approx 2" square) 'album cover' artwork for placing in the jukebox. I don't have the EP, but I do have the pack of five with everything except the 7" sleeve art (but a friend of mine does have this which is how I know it exists...)

So there are multiple series numbered 1 thru 5? I've got Duke 2 and Duke 3 by Junior Parker:
pikeys dog Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 So there are multiple series numbered 1 thru 5? I've got Duke 2 and Duke 3 by Junior Parker: It would appear so... Not only Duke did these sets for Seeburg - I have the Barbara Dane "I'm On My Way" on Capitol as well.
Sean Hampsey Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I have the Bobby Blands and the Junior Parkers from that series - but not the packaging & strips,. Sean
Rbman Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 I've got BB on Kent "Love You Baby" which features Ike Turner....not got a working scanner so will try a photo later.

45cellar Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 BOBBY BLAND - GETTING USED TO THE BLUES (Soundclip from Refosoul Archive)
Tommy1 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Had a quick listen at the tracks on refosoul, soooooo much good, but at the moment I think "Yum Yum tree" is my fave!
Pomonkey Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I have a stunning Italian picture sleeve of Something happened to me, haven't seen elsewhere
Dave Rimmer Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Just realised this 'Artist of the week' hasn't got a link to the discography, so here we go Bobby Bland Discography
KevH Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Always had a soft spot for "I aint myself anymore".. bobby bland - i ain't myself anymore -
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Here's one that I bet not too many people on here will have: This was 'The Man's very first record. It's actually a duet by Bobby and Rosco Gordon, although Rosco is the only artist credited for some reason. As you'll notice, though, 'Robert' gets the writer credit. It's not much of a record in truth but, hey, everyone's got to start somewhere! I've also got maybe 8 or 9 BB 78s on Duke, too - I'll scan a few when I have a bit more time and inclination (too hot and bothered now!)
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 ...and here a few more of my BB 78s: ...apologies for the musihiness of one or two of the scans, my scanner is not so hot... More to follow!
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) ...and some more as promised: ...I do have a few more besides these, but they're inaccessible at the moment. FYI "I'm Not Ashamed"/"Wishing Well" was the last Duke release to appear on both 78 and 45. All subsequent Bobby Bland releases were 45 only. Talking of 45s, here's one that I picked up in Memphis last Saturday: ...I've never seen a demo before and I'm quite intrigued to see that both sides were XXX'd as the 'A' side! Happy viewing... Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 ...Scanned this one (as mentioned above) too, but forgot to post it up!:
