Robbk Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) Not sure who owned the publishing on Margaret's track, But all Popcorn's other material was either, jointly with Ollie McLaughlin's publishing company or his own, which the family now hold the paper work on, although there is some dispute over this due to a deal he did, just before he died, and I haven't heard from the family for somewhile. The publishing on both of Margaret's cuts on GeneBro was owned by Popcorn Wylie's self-owned Ala King Music. But, again, I don't think they made any money "selling" the Stardust pressings (I'd guess that any sales that occurred went to cover the pressing costs, and as so many were given away, no profits were made). So, any inquiry as to any money due Popcorn's heirs or Ms. little, would be from sales or use of the 2 songs in some other form/format. On that same subject, there were likely NO commercial sales of the original GeneBro release. Even if there were, I doubt that they'd have been enough to cover recording studio time fees and pressing costs. So Ms. Little would likely be due naught from Gene Bro,,,,, and the same from Detroit Stars. Edited February 18, 2013 by RobbK

Agentsmith Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 in hindsight, a picture sleeve with some liner notes would probably have sold out the legit reissue, dont know how many dealers actually took on stock, but cant be too many if it was only a limited run as suggested...so in time will these become collectable in the absense of owning a genuine copy?, i think i remember listening to it ( the reissue ) and the sound quality seemed all right. hope andy gets to finish his piece and posts it up here on this thread and a picture of the lady would complete the story thus far.
Agentsmith Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 sorry, but why is this thread running in two forums?
