Guest Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) That Cherry People tune is shocking..... go on, tell me it was 'bigginwiggin'? I have to agree " AS " is a totally , totally urine poor record . If we are talking REAL records , here we two that the kids on " Teen Time " are discovating to for the dance contest ....... After the judges have selected the winners - I feel sorry for the person who gets the Jonathan King album - interesting to hear that the track is Glen Campbell & The Soul Set's version of " Just Walk In My Shoes " Malc Burton Edited May 28, 2010 by Malc Burton
Paul R Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 it was massive in75- 76.. lt was that popular that it came out on Black Magic........and l bought it......God it's just so dreadful! Was actually first big aroung 73/74. I still quite like it as a pop tune, but not a northern tune. Paul
Citizen P Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Was actually first big aroung 73/74. I still quite like it as a pop tune, but not a northern tune. Paul Go on then. I'll own up Not only did I buy the LP about (74ish) I've still got the Fecker Tony
Pauldonnelly Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Remember tapeing "Cherry People" at wigan one night, on the coach on the way home all you got was .........And Suddenyl.....re-wind And Suddenly.........re-wind and on and on nearly all the way back to Gloucester Strangely enough somebody taped off the tape on the coach ,so there was a tape with Shaun can you play that record again........And Suddenly good gear in those days! Still like The Cherry People, for me it is one of those records that epitomises the unlikeliness of the Northern scene.Really good fun record..so where are they now? Steve Some more good fun records....Val McKenna,Ted Cassidy,The Flasher,Pizza pie man,Kieth, Casualeers in fact the list is endless, Would anyone dare/care to put on a soul night or all-niter that played all the corny/fun records that used to get played? i doubt it,at least i was there at the time and thoroughly enjoyed myself bit like a 100 club mid-week do really miss them too!! Hope you're ok smiffy..its 15 years since you stopped me on the stairs at my 40ths with a "shame it needs a 40th for us to have a good night out" TD Valentine - Love Trap? , shyte but in some perverse way brilliant.
viphitman Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 hmmm... one step away from Northern Soul Dancing....especially the girl on the right at the beginning with the yellow top and black skirt!!!
