First up big thanx to Anton for showing me this . . . wink.gif

When im feeling down and the week is just dragging and everything is just going wrong i start to dream about the upcoming niter - wherever it may be - i go on to you tube and watch this . . biggrin.gif personally this epitomises all that Northern Soul represents (for me anyway) it clearly portrays the togetherness . . the cameraderie . . the passion . . everything you can expect at a soul gig thumbup.gif the dancing is just PHENOMONAL and the song is coooool to. If you aint seen this and your curious then ; go onto you tube . . and type in moloko northern soul dancing/familiar feeling . . Duffy was good but for me this just blows it away wicked.gif have a look and make up your own mind smile.gif

Yes we all like reality but nothing wrong with an escape too...

Its art darling.... :hatsoff2:

Glad a few liked the Moloko clip... We had a nice time during filming, met up with a great bunch of people and glad the finished product was well received by many folks...

2007......

as Mike says.... there was life before Youtube

Obviously you lot have AHD and never watch the end of the credits on films, it says 2002 at the end which might be a clue.

Malc you and your Google habit do make me laugh, keep meaning to say its only polite to name your sources, in this case it would have CYA!

I really like this, its done by Elaine Constantine and done very well in my opinion, it's one of the things that for me shows why most people who know her work have great faith in her attention to detail and why lots are convinced her film will show our people up in the best light possible, which no doubt Mr Smith will try and argue just to be contrary.

A funny story about this is I was living overseas at the time of this, long before I knew the bad Santucci (Marco) and the lovely Santucci (Elaine) so knew nothing of this, sitting in the room watching MTV with the sound down, (the only way to watch it obviously) I hadn't been on scene for a few years and this came on, I let out a high pitch squeal to my other half about Northern Soul on a video and how whoever done it obviously really know what they were talking about, I spent the next 4 hours searching through the 20 or so European music channels to watch it again and repeatedly watched over it getting all dewey eyed, not long after we were over at Tef's stag do and met up with some old mates again and hey presto I went out again! So thanks Mrs Santucci.

Elaine brought out Roisin from Moloko to one of the Soul Revolutions and I believe she has been out dancing to a number of dos, a thoroughly charming young lady, dead interested in the music and danced all night, and never once commented on me hanging around her like a 15 year old star struck twat.

Attention to detail....I'm assuming this night in the video isn't based on Wigan Casino.Hair too short and the black feller is dressed like someone out the eighties/nineties.It must based on a night in London as theres a London Road sign near to the window..Theres a feller with a modern Tamla Motown T shirt on......at least theres no dodgy holdalls

I will admit that a small percentage of reference checking / confirmation does come from Google , but please give me credit that the majority does not , as I have stored a hell of a lot of worthwhile / worthless infomation over the years in this brain of mine : I will become perfect and not make mistakes - a la putting 2007 in relation to the Moloko clip - at the same time as the hole in my a*se heals up

Its just based on a soul night indeed... Not in the past or future.. It was filmed in London with a selection of folk from the soul scene and a few jazz dancers also....

Can you spot Mr Gibbs in his original spencers  , that top button was really a struggle i think :D

Good times and nice to see it again.....

It was a dig at your childish and churlish comments on the other thread about this when you questioned the integrity of anyone who dared to think differently of this film just because they knew Elaine, it was petty and stifled any real debate.

So all that artist stuff you have put up before, which is identical to what is on Wikipedia other than change of word order, is your own, or are you saying you wrote the stuff in there, either way I take my hat off to you Malc, that is seriously impressive.

I love Google, it is probably the single greatest invention ever, since jam roly poly.

Its a pop video FFS,

As Steve says I dont take this to be about any specific soul night, surely its all about the emotions and feelings of going to, getting there and being at the dance, and captures that amazingly for me.

My comment on attention to detail is quite clearly, as you should see if you re-read my post, about Elaines work in its entirety not just this, and I stand by my statement 100% still.

And before I get the usual comments, I was very positive about the other film initially; in fact I would suggest I was the first to be positive on here. However the sneaky and disgraceful behaviour by its representatives and the continual carping on about them asking people but still making some fairly basic mistakes has now dampened any enthusiasm I have. My view still is get it right or not at all. An Escape To Victory type film for the Northern scene may be okay in some peoples eyes but in mines its a travesty and a wasted opportunity.

I am unashamedly biased on side of Elaines film but I am so based on what I see as the likely integrity of either film, and based on what I have heard and seen about both, not some misplaced loyalty, as I would be about any film on any subject.
