Anoraks Corner Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Not sure whether this is the correct forum to place this topic, so Mods please feel free to move it if you fancy?! Wanted...Wigan Casino 3rd Anniversary woven badge. No, it is not to copy or lend to an aspiring fashion designer to produce some dodgy t.shirt or jacket Am willing to trade vinyl for it, in order to avoid cash Please PM me if you think we can strike a deal
Guest POTTERIESPECK Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 If it's the original Casino 3rd badge you're after im sure you'll not get a embroided one. The badge was just printed onto a shite piece of cloth material which even the edges were'nt hemmed. in the picture is my 3rd anni badge where you can see about the poor quality of material which was used. I had a old flames sister to embroide mine but not in all the original colours that were printed on the cloth.
Anoraks Corner Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Thanks for the confirmation...no wonder I was having trouble finding one! Seems such a shame that they never did the job properly...anyone know why...was it a last minute order, a cost cutting exercise etc?
Guest martyn Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Thanks for the confirmation...no wonder I was having trouble finding one! Seems such a shame that they never did the job properly...anyone know why...was it a last minute order, a cost cutting exercise etc? I stuck mine on my record box - they really were crap . Iv'e still got it somewhere round my mums (I hope !) , I had to cut it off when I threw the broken box out
DennieFitz Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I have got the original 3rd anniversary patch but it doesn't look like the one in the picture above. Alot of the people who went that night didn't get in, packed!! I cannot bear to part with mine, good luck xx

Alot of the people who went that night didn't get in, packed!! I cannot bear to part with mine, good luck xx It is the original 3rd badge but some of the colours were embroided in my choice of colours. Nice if you could put a scan of your badge ,which like i stated should just be a print on a shite piece of cloth. You've done well to keep it this long without the colours fading. Hi All....My 3rd & 4th aniversary badges also came untrimmed so I thought until I saw yours, mine were at least had a rough circle 3/8" out, iI will dig them out to show you. if mine was like yours I dont think I would have trimmed it at all, as they say on the Antiques Roadshow, you have a perfict example of a real 1st issue, what I would like to know is? why do I read about poeple who gave the badges away? I can understand how things get lost mislade stolen, thrown away by your mum, but given away??? and also why would want to ware an aniversary badge if they did not attend? iI am excluding memoribila colectors, i'm talking about the repro aniversary badges, unless you have lost your real one or dont want to damage it, but want a symbolic badge for your Addidas Bag? why or what would you want it for, it,s like buying bootlegs theres no point to it, buy a CD or collect records as it's money down the drain. Don't you think DAVE K (no spell check)

dthedrug Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 some people simply collect memorabilia. HI ALL,,,YES ME FOR ONE, DON'T GET ME WRONG! IF PEOPLE WANT TO OWN REPRESS OR REPRESSED RECORDS IT IS DOWN TO THEM, MY POINT IS JUST, THERE WAS A TIME NO ONE DJ WITH BOOTLEGS EMI DISC'S AND SO ON, THATS WHY THEY WERE DJing,IT WOULD BE SHAME IF YOU PLAYED A RECORD THAT WAS DODGY, AS THE NEXT DJ MIGHT HAVE WANTED TO PLAY THE ORIGINAL (this is what the rare soul scene is about< being elite) THE SAME GOES TO ANNIVERSARY BADGES!? ANY WAY HERE ARE 4 ORIGINAL BADGES THAT ARE UNIQUE TO ME, EXCEPT THE WIGAN 4th MINT WITH EXTRA CLOTH TRIMMED UP THE NEXT DAY, THE BLACK MAGIC BADGE IS HARD AS IT WAS GIVEN TO PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED THE DEMOS PRICELESS AS I DID FROM SELECTA DISC, THE ISC MADE ONE BUT SMALLER AVAILABLE TO BUY. THE EASC WAS JUST BLACK & WHITE, TILL I TARTED IT UP, I AM SURE THIS IS THERE 1ST BADGE, THE OKeh BADGE I SENT OF FOR WHEN IT WAS ADVERTISED IN BLUES AND SOUL (Pete Fell) AS I HAD HARDLY HEIRED ABOUT THE TOWN, I UNSTICHED IT. THE NEAREST I GOT TO THE PLACE WAS THE CAT'S WHISKERS IN BURNLY? DON'T T YOU NO T, SORRY THIS DON'T HELP YOU GET THE WIGAN 3rd BUT BY THEN BADGES WERE STUCK DOWN ON ADDIDS BAGS OR STITCHED ONTO BOWLING SHIRTS VESTS & BADGE DAVE

Guest Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Out of interest, was there much badge wearing going in in '76, or had it yet to break through en masses, or was it frowned upon?
Pete S Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Out of interest, was there much badge wearing going in in '76, or had it yet to break through en masses, or was it frowned upon? I have a photo of me taken in summer 1975 wearing a shirt which must have 7 or 8 soul patches on, I stopped wearing them when this guy at the Bradmore said he'd beat me up if I ever wore a Wigan patch again without having gone there! So it was another 8 months before I wore another patch. I had a jumper with a Night Owl patch sewn on, think that was it for me, but others wore them though you saw less and less people wearing them as the 70's wore on.

Frankie M Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I Had all the badges (wigan ,howard mallett ,catacombs ,pendulum ) all sewn on a cloth holdall which i carried around all the time but like me the holdall wore away with time and the badges faded away ,these are best as memories for those who attended these legendary nights ,but unsure if they are relevant wearing them today (or am i just a spoilsport )
Steve L Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Out of interest, was there much badge wearing going in in '76, or had it yet to break through en masses, or was it frowned upon? I reckon it was in full swing before that Dave, went to Notts Palais all dayer for the first time in Nov 75 - bought a West Midlands Soul Club badge and put it straight on me black Adidas bag
luxury soul Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Dave...it was a big thing, yes. As a 12 year old in 74 it seemed like they were the rage. I used to ask my brother (2 years older) to get me a badge wherever he went, until I was "allowed" to go myself one year later...so had a nice collection until my wife decided to chuck them out! Just look at old B&S issues and there were big adverts selling them.
Guest Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 It went for £206 It went for £206 and I was just going to say I will have a search at the weekend to see if I still have mine and you could have it freebie .... £206 good grief, that's ridiculous money for a patch
Guest Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Well, I'm still a looking...but not £206 worth of looking!
Northern Soul Uk Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) This is my original, got it on the night :-) Also my original 'Torch' badge. Good days eh? Edited August 24, 2012 by Steve Luigi
Russ Vickers Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) I had my Allnighter bag stolen with nearly all of my original patches on, all received by me on the nights in question, unfortunately some scum bag (pardon the pun) nicked it in the late 7ts early 8ts, I replaced most of them with originals from ebay & other sources years ago, before the prices inflated, theyre nice to have, but not the same as the ones I received personally on said nights, theyre tucked away nicely with other memorabilia, as I could never wear them out these days....... I was also one of those extremly embarrassing younsters, with patches down the side of my Spencer Soul Bags OMG I thought I was so cool too.....there, Ive said it ...Im afraid I was far to young for the 3rd Anniversay David, so not much help Im afraid, but good luck my friend.
