7th Ave Aviators, $700, sold it on when the pound collapsed at a profit, from an Ebay seller although not from Ebay itself

she contacted me and did a deal outside of Ebay. Some say I shoulda held on just a little tighter...........:hatsoff2: Don't think

I ever paid more than that for a single, if I did I can't remember. Best buys I ever did were 3 x Trends + 2 x Willie Kendrick

all for $225...........thumbsup.gif

Not sure of the date but when it was getting big i paid £80 for

Sherlock Holmes - Standing At The Standstill

I think it was early 80s.

then a few copies started turning up and ended up a couple years later selling it for £20.

What a muppet.

1975 I think, £6 for Shane Martin on Epic. The UK Demo went for £12 the same night. A couple of weeks later I swapped the Shane Martin(that was just getting massive), for Nancy Wilson "End Of our Love" on US. Total Muppetry!!.

More like 76 - Nancy Wilson huge early 76, I remember hearing it 2 or 3 times on one saturday night, Shane Martin was at it's biggest in 77 to be honest

Both big Mecca spins in 74, I was selling (Aug 74)Shane Martin's at about £5 each at the time. (US not UK copies)

I did not get a Nancy Wilson till Dec 74, and it had been around for a while than.

I'm sure it was 75. Shane Martin was pretty big, but nancy Wilson was definately a year or so earlier. Could have been late 74.

I've always loved the nancy Wilson Track though.

I bought a Jerry Cook demo at the Torch in '72 cost £18, that was like a months wages back then :P

Nothing more than a few quid mesen,i bought what was reasonably priced at the time,let the people with the money pay it.

Webby seem to remember your Dean buying Country Girl at the casino about 80? not sure what price he paid but it was a fooking lot,ask him?.

I have never really paid mega money for a particular tune , which I suppose comes from being a careful Yorkshireman :laugh:

I have had most of what are now the big records in my possession at one time or another , and bought them when the price was respective for them , which was between £10 - £50 .

Its all relative though isn't it depending upon when.

For example paying £30 in 1980 surely ain't the same as paying £30 today - and so on...

For me I stepped up a gear when I paid Pete Lawson £80 in two installments circa 1986 for Ron Baxters This Is It! That was the first of many serious expenditures for some very nice tunes all of which on todays market are in the mid to high £100's. Wish I still had em.....:thumbsup:
