Guest Perception Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 3 Jimmy Hughes - Neighbour Neighbour - excellent dancer and the other sides good too! Yes the other side "Its A Good Thing To Know" is an excellent record!
Shaun W Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Just three of many. I prefer the term inexpensive to cheap; there's nothing cheap about quality soul, regardless of the price tag. Having said that "As inexpensive as chips" sounds bollocks when you say it. You don't need to look too hard to find these at less than a tenner each. Ernie Andrews Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 JJ Barnes - please let me in - ric tic darrell banks - open the door to your heart / our love - revilot young folk - lonely girl - mar v lus you could get all three for under £30 on a good day - a thousand quid's worth of quality there Totally agree Pete - There are so many good tunes out there that you can use in a set -But some people as ive said before jsut want 15 mins of fame rather than learning a craft and including lesser priced records in a set takes a good ear and crafting the tunes together. What a brilliant box all these quoted here on this thread would make.
Hayden Road Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Cant understand why anybody would want to buy boots when there is so much cheap original quality 45's out there. Here's two i purchased from ebay last week for £1 each. https://youtu.be/wTiMmWmGL68 https://youtu.be/xxlXpRiBfng

Guest MrC Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 The flip of Syl Johnson is pretty good as well. Pitch it up to +8 or 10 and it's a stormer! Played it covered up and people always ask what it is!
Chalky Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 The flip of Syl Johnson is pretty good as well. Same Kinda Thing on Twinight by Syl is very good too.
Little-stevie Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 (edited) The flip of Syl Johnson is pretty good as well. yes indeed matt.. Thousands of cheap tunes and many with great flipsides too,ha ha, just the way i like it.. Not so good for record dealers i guess but good for the collecting of quality soul on a budget, the way many of us like or have to do it.. Thousands cheap and wonderful tunes that would stand up against any records... Pete said JJ Barnes " Please let me in " then flip it over, oooooh, a soul tune indeed hiding there, if you aint heard it and have the record then see what you think?? " i think i found a love " Just a point though, one persons cheap as chips means £15 or under, just a thought as some will list what they call a cheapie and to others thats quite a lot to pay... or more than they are used to paying.. We all have different levels i guess, depends on finances.. Many tunes listed here are stocking fillers, fill yer boots.... I will get a few titles up later... Kris Holmes Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Same Kinda Thing on Twinight by Syl is very good too. I'd actually go as far to say that from the first Federal through to the last Hi 45 you can't actually go too far wrong with Syl, something for everyone, R&B, Soul, Funk, Crossover, Ballads. It's all there & done pretty damn well for the most part. 1
Guest ChicagoFireSoul Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I am glad to see that the following records already received a mention: The Decisions "I Can't Forget About You" The Ethics "Look At Me Now" Betty Everett "Unlucky Girl" Juanita Williams "Baby Boy" Joe Tex "You Better Believe it Baby" (great intro: highly effective floor filler) I'd like to nominate three more: Dee Dee Warwick "Don't You Ever Give Up On Me" Mercury The Intruders "(You'd Better) Check Yourself" Gamble The Radiants "Ain't No Big Thing" Chess
