DAVE KIL Have you heard their LP Soul Of Mann.....i'ts the red one with a picture of a voodoo shrunken head on it or something like that. Its a cover version LP but the covers are all instrumentals and very jazzy.Theres a mental version of My Generation on it which has more in common with Cal Tjader than Pete Townshend.Just finished watching Paul Jones in a film called The Commitee which is bizarre and pre his Privelage days.Arthur Brown appears in some living room and does Nightmare.Beats Peter Sherster gluing chairs to the ceiling at the UFO Club

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Just finished watching Paul Jones in a film called The Commitee which is bizarre and pre his Privelage days. ...That film is 1968 or 9, 'Privilege' was released 1967. I've been having a Manfreds Mk. 1 renaissance myself lately. Their B sides on HMV, as Dave points out, are mostly first rate - "Without You", the flip of "5-4-3-2-1" is a killer! I also think their version of 'Oh No Not My Baby' is truly excellent - nice use of saxes, and how many times do you hear a vibes solo on a 1960s UK Pop record? Not the Manfreds per se, but "Sonny Boy Williamson", the flip of Paul Jones' solo single "I've Been A Bad Bad Boy", has always been a favourite. (He's backed by former Manfred Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker - both already in Cream - on it...) Edited May 24, 2010 by TONY ROUNCE

Wiggyflat Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Where the f*ck do you get your records from, gobsmacked again here. Just picked them up over the years.Love Graham Bond one of the greats who came through the modern jazz scene through Don Rendell. He appears on a Winston G 45 Please Dont Say...I even like his Magik period where he went all pagan.A lot of those modern jazzers Phil Seaman and Bondy come to mind took hard drugs (heroin) and had their lives cut short.I have a short clip of Bond in a film called the Breaking of Bumbo (Joanna Lumley) and theres some skinheads in it who bottle Dim from A Clockwork Orange (its a 69/70 flick) I rate The Open Mind LP as great UK rock with Cream influences.Dave did you ever hear of a group called The Next Collection who had a regular gig at Streatham Ice Rink from 69/70.They eventually got signed and released an LP on Uk Polydor as Secondhand called Reality (LP has a cover of a x ray piccie of a hand). Its a downer LP and it ecapsulates to me the shift from lysergics to darker drugs. It has a semi concept about a south London Clown called Dennis James who drowns in his bath in the Elephant and Castle. You can almost smell the greatcoats and patchouli oil.Their other LP is Death May Be Your Santa Claus (posted pic earlier) and the bass player was ??? who released a Mod/ska revival 45 and ended up in an oi group!!....Bootboys.I remember living on a rough estate in Pallister Park in Middlesbrough and there being gangs of kids in crombies, purple beagle collar shirts, feather hair with a cross earing and parallels with turn ups and DM's.As a kid in 77 I went through a dealer boot phase.Had the lot..lace ups, brogues, DM dealers, full of blakeys.Used to have to get them from a shop called Darkie Tans who mainly sold to gypsys. All the boro boot boys ruled the Holgate end at Ayresome.....Teeside aggro Hello hello (Gary Glitter).Youre Going Home In A North Tees Ambulance........He shot he missed he must be fucking pissed David Mills David Mills....he shot...he scored and all the Holgate roared David Mills. The Saint Man tattoos/tank tops and borstal spots. BTW Tony check out The Dog Presides by Paul Jones which has Jeff Beck on guitar and Come Inside My Music Box from his solo LP. Edited May 24, 2010 by wiggyflat

dthedrug Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 Dug some 45s out which are on the later mod/pop tip.All recommended if youre into that stuff. The Moving Finger demolish Shake And Fingerpop. :hatsoff2:Hi anouther great set of UK rare un's that have no longer in my latest UK collection not for any other reason than 15 years ago people were throwing money at these type of finds which in my case came from car boots and junking, the values of these type of tunes must be over 400% of what I sold them for, also i have noticed that todays prices are falling for the more rarer records but riseing for what are known to me as mor available records PETE S sold by auction the Patrice Holloway DEMO last week for a massive bargin, it's just my luck that i am not working, and i just could not give a record away a true rareaty, i no PETE does wheel and deal and i stopped 10 years ago. but I still cant work out apart from the obvious (demand) why a modern soul record can achieve more money than a genuine Rare 6ts sound! :ph34r:DAVE.... PS I CANT ATTACH ANY OF THE USEUAL FEATURS IN PARTICULAR SPELL CHECK ON SOULSOURCE CAN ANY BODY HELP?
