Pete S Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Selling this ion Ebay, all the info is here https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120567201837 it came from someone who did the choreography on Ready Steady Go and he would be given the acetates to enable him to make up the dance routines. This is a Pye acetate which means it could have come out on any of their labels (Pye, Piccadilly, Hickory, cameo Parkway and so on) but it sounds 100% UK to me. Just wondered if anyone knows who it is.

Guest kent soul club Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 How bizzare. I don't know who that is, but I heard an acetate of the very same song , but by a female artist at a record fair last week. No idea who it is, but got an awesome hammond organ break, instead of the brass section. Any ideas on that version?

Just wondered if anyone knows who it is. do we have a sound clip?. i know this is a standard ( presuming of course, we are talking about mel torme's record) but i remember tony reynolds playing a female version around the start of the 80's as part of the 2nd mod movement. at the time he was djing at a pub called the outrigger near the bullring in birmingham. didnt get a look at the record but it may have been on decca...infact, perhaps he might be worth looking up to try and solve this one. rob.h

Hi Pete It's new to me a great song this, as we know the poeple who got this song were the 1st of the Black & White Generation, this has a classic crossover cabaret sound mixed in with London's Club Scene 63/4 if it is a UK song it sounds like whoever singing was inspired by Tony Newly (Hart Throb, of the in crowd back then) Can see a real MOD attraction, to this as I only have release sheets for all LP and not singles I cant substantiate if it got a Pye or Piccadilly release, in saying that the Ivy League Set the US equivalent to our MOD scene but very collegiate and Kennedy inspired, who desperately wanted links with the UK, could have done this also?? however there is defiantly a London Accent in there, and this would not be the 1st Newly influenced record, has it got a B side, and have you let ROY listen to it if not I will E-mail him. A very nice find I say, did you get my message about the records you told Mick about DAVE
