Steve G Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Wouldn't be seen dead with it in my playbox. But it's a great pop record and I have a copy.

Pete S Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 that's the original No it's not, he wrote it but his version came out a lot later than Helen Shapiro's.

funkyfeet Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 If it's a Casino night it should be played, it was a monster so should the other Big floorfilling "POP" tunes otherwise you are doing what the yanks do with their version of history in their films.

Not that I'm the slightest bit interested in going to one but how are you "rewriting history" you can't play every record ever played there & perhaps the DJs involved are playing their own favourite casino memories & to them it may not include pop music whether it's a good dancer or not ?
Guest JimSLH Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Not that I'm the slightest bit interested in going to one but how are you "rewriting history" you can't play every record ever played there & perhaps the DJs involved are playing their own favourite casino memories & to them it may not include pop music whether it's a good dancer or not ? Then this must be one of the many over looked classics that dont fit in todays scene Sold my copy good few years ago now £100.00 i think

Great record remember dancing my arse off to it at Wigan I played a copy at the Seattle weekender last November Just to show a few of our U.S. brethren that it was possible to bring a dancer from the other side of the pond:thumbsup:
Guest Matt Male Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 As I say Mark a very good record. Just wouldn't play it out. Same as Kiki Dee, Paula Parfitt, Sue Lynn etc, I like all of them, and have copies in my collection. To my mind they are the oldies that deserve to be played out these days. I'd rather hear Kiki Dee and Sue Lynn than Frank bleedin Wilson again.

I agree you can't play every record, but a f**king lot of the biggest floorfillers are never played full stop so it can't be a true reflection of the Casino. I'm not saying they are great soul records, but they were certainly Casino floorfillers, and to ignore them is rewriting history.

Guest RICTIC Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 yes a great tune ,got mine from a car boot 50p a bargin

I'm not saying they are great soul records, but they were certainly Casino floorfillers, and to ignore them is rewriting history. HI ALL...AGAIN I TOTALY AGREE, AS MUCH AS I RESPECT THE FRANK WILSON IS A RARE RECORD, NOT THE COPYS YOU HEAR OUT ARE NOT, IF YOU CONPAIR THE RAREITY OF JUST THE 4 UK PRODUCED 45s, AND CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG, I HAVE ALWAYS KEPT THE FAITH ON NOT PLAYING SECOND ISSUES AND DEFO NOT PLAYING BOOTLEGS & CDs..I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE, EVEN TO POEPLE THAT HAVE A DJ BOX OF TOP RARE 45s HOW MANY RECORDS IN YOUR COLECTION? KNOWING THAT THE DJ BOX IS THE COLLECTION, IF IT WAS ME DJing I WOULD TREAT THE SPOT AS A REMINDER OF TRENDS CLUBS WITH REAL RARE RECORDS THAT MAY NOT BE TOP PRICE BUT ARE WHAT THEY ARE FORGOTON SOUNDS. THIS IS WHY I DONT GET ASKED TO DJ AS I WOULD PUT TO SHAME MANY EGO DJs DAVE(let's start with the ACTION Label)KIL

One come to mind, Jason Knight 'our love is getting stronger' massive at wigan, never heard it played anywhere else, its a shame coz i loved that record, and still got it, in fact i may play it out at the next Banbury soul club do
dthedrug Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 HI ALL .. JASON KNIGHT A SUPERLATIVE UK PRODUCED RECORD, MASSIVE IN 72, PLAYS GREAT SANDWICHED BETWEEN THE FULLER BROS AND JERRY WILLIAMS, IT SOUNDS AS FRESH AN AS GOOD AS I REMEMBERED, THIS ISSUE IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE OWNED BUT I HAVE OWNED 2 DEMOS? IS THE ISSUE RARER?? ALSO FOR SOME REASON I HAVE CONVINCED MY SELF ANDY SPENCER HAD THIS ON A BLUE PYE LABEL..WAS THAT A 1st RUN OF THE REISSUE OR THE LAST RUN FROM THE RED LABEL??? I HAVE ALSO PUT THE KENNY BERNARD CLASSIC ON, AS IT IS ANOTHER UK PRODUCTION, THAT STILL SOUNDS GREAT, DISCOVER BY MICK SMITH, TAKEN TO BLACKPOOL MECCA AND SPUN BY TONY JEBB, A MUST HAVE RECORD. 100ish WORTH A 100ish ON ISSUE, OR DEMO 150+ AND STILL CHEAP AT ABOUT H MUCH MORE!
