I have been looking for some good quality, heavy duty, white card 7" covers for a long time now, I've even tried some from the States. Problem is they all seem to be the same crap thin flimsy things, and smaller in size, which makes it fiddly when using a paper inner sleeve.

I am toying with the idea of getting some specially made, and wondered if anyone else would be interested in buying some?

Phil.

Phil, what you're looking for already exists!

Proper heavy duty card board sleeves, larger than the standard UK ones, no problems using paper sleeves or original company sleeves.

see www.musictools.de

site is in german so if you need any help just PM me...

Many thanks Benji, looks like nobody else is interested, that's how they get away with selling us rubbish, apathy. I got this one with a record from Japan some time ago. Best design I've ever seen, and lovely stiff card. Brilliant.

Here's some more info about the cardboard sleeves I've mentioned. Note the size, "UK" covers (e.g. Covers33.co.uk) are a few mm smaller.

Single Cover, 300 gr/m² Chromoduplex-cardboard 80 mm middle hole.

Colour: white

size: 180 x 180 mm

Phil

This company sells card sleeves that are slightly oversize and can accept a 45 in a paper/company sleeve.

https://soundswholesaleltd.co.uk/

Don't buy their paper sleeves though as they are cut the same oversize measurement as the card so the paper sleeves don't fit inside.

I learnt that after I bought 500 of each of the bastard things!

Does this site sell the paper inner sleeves (that fit) as well? If so what is the cost of both?

Paper sleeves they're selling fit very well. Also these card board covers fit in any record box, be it ADDA or aluminium flight cases. Never had any problems at all.

Been asked by PM how to navigate on www.musictools.de here's my reply:

"once you have entered the site, click on "single-zubeh¶r" on the left menu. then click on "single-cover karton" (karton is german for cardboard), ArtNr is 2002A. On the right site type in the number of sleeves you want to order. the site automatically leads you to your "warenkorb" (shopping basket), choose postage ("per DHL innerhalb EU, 19,99) and proceed payment from there. Postage seems a bit expensive but I understand it's a fixed rate so it shouldn't matter if you order 100 or 1.000 sleeves, it remains the same."

cardboard sleeves are 0.25 EUR each, paper sleeves are 0.04 EUR each. You can find them in the "single-zubeh¶r" menu right above the card board sleeves, ArtNr is 2002

You'd have to contact David Griffiths to get a shipping estimate, but covers33 quality is poor compared to the ones from oriviousrecords.com. The sleeves are not even in the same league.

Well Greg if there not in the same league he needs to get some samples over here so we can see how good they are,

i`m happy with the Covers33 ones and the price free p&p also the two day delivery service, they also seem to do what everyone said they don`t do,size, can`t fit sleeves in,ect

I and others have been looking for years to buy 7" card sleeves with poly linings.

These Don't Scratch the records everytime you pull them in and out of the sleeve!!

I would love to get hold of some of these sleeves as most of my collection is in these, as bought in the 70s, I am now using the plain white card sleeves and find they mark or scratch the playing surface, never noticed any probs with the poly lined sleeves sweating.

Seem to remember picking these up in packs of 10 ? in certain record shops, in the 70s.

They only sweat if you keep them in a damp room, its called condensation!

They are the best sleeves for Northern Soul records because they keep these wonderful records in great condition.
