Pete S Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Can't think of anywhere else to post this where people will see it Sorry about this folks...I sold tons of records on Friday as you can imagine, but the money I took, which I banked on Friday night, has been delayed going into my account because of the bank holiday, so basically I literally haven't got any money to post the packages until tomorrow (thursday). There are 32 packages to post. I just wanted to let you know about this as I usually get items to people by the next day. The only place I have any money is in Paypal - if I can get the right adhesive labels from somewhere, I can pay for the post via paypal and print my own address labels etc, that's if I can find enough money to buy the labels LOL Anyway I do apologise, they are all here waiting to go but it does look like tomorrow now unless I can come up with some other idea. cheers Pete
Pete S Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 Thanks for letting us know Pete............ Least I can do. Ran out of time friday anyway because the orders didn't stop coming in til after 7pm, never do post on a saturday, then there was a bank holiday so it would have been tuesday at the earliest - but no money in the bank. Thought it would definitely have gone in today

I sell books (yawn) for a living and for the £4.99 it costs me a month it saves me a load of hassle, cueing up in the PO etc. I then drop a bagfull of packages at my local PO with the print out certificate of postage. When I drop next days packages off I pick the empty bag up with the previous days stamped certificate. Top up your SmartStamp account with credit card. I top up with either £50 or £100 at a time but can top up with any amount £5 or over. Paying for postage is then offset until next CC bill.

Theres one problem and thats that I send everything recorded, so although I can pay for and print my own labels, they still have to put the recordeds onto their system and I've now got 44 recorded packages for tomorrow so I guess I will be in the post office for about 90 minutes cos they won't take them off me, they say they're not allowed to!

Pete You could open a tracked product account with Royal Mail. They will supply you with a recorded & special delivery book together with the stickers; you complete the addresses (use duplicate sticky label) and stick the relevant bar code /tracking number from the sticky label next to it . The books used to be in duplicate but nowadays they just have to run a scan gun over the bar codes when you drop off at the PO. https://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=22700528&mediaId=22700582 Ali x

Pete, it's a pity you have jobsworths in your PO. I have a stack of recorded, Special Delivery and Int Signed For slips. I select the appropriate for package when printing the postage. My PO has no problem with me leaving them to be put through their system at their leisure when the Q disappears. The printouts for Special Delivery etc just go in the empty bag alongside the certificate to be picked up tomorrow.
