  1. 1. When i go out to a soul night or allnighter i like to hear:

    • the same records that i hear at every venue i go to, week in week out, and have done for most of my time on the scene.
      3
    • the same records i hear everywhere else, but with the odd new or underplayed sound that i haven't heard before, as long as i can dance to it.
      5
    • mostly the same records i have been listening to all my life but with a smattering of 'new to my ears' and underplayed sounds.
      11
    • about 50/50, classic oldies plus underplayed or 'new to my ears' sounds, as long as i can dance to them.
      40
    • mostly sounds neglected, forgotten or underplayed everywhere else, with a few classic oldies thrown in.
      64
    • almost entirely sounds new to my ears and underplayed sounds, with only the very occasional sound that i know well.
      30
    • sounds entirely new to my ears, neglected and underplayed. I don't care if i don't hear something i know as long as i enjoy what i do hear.
      32
    • I don't like Northern Soul.

Ok this poll is about Northern Soul. Not funk, not RnB, not modern soul or anything else. Records that are accepted by the majority of people that hear them as northern soul. When i talk about 'new to my ears' and underplayed i am talking about northern soul from whatever era.

You can choose multiple answers because i know some people are bloody fickle... laugh.gif

One of the arguments against 'new' or underplayed sounds are that they are non-dancers. Just trying to eliminate that argument before it starts. thumbsup.gif

Actually don't want another discussion. How can i lock the thread but keep the poll? huh.gif

Reopened the thread in case anyone has a comment on the poll so far. Like i said earlier, everyone's probably fed up of arguing on the other thread, so maybe a huge discussion on here isn't needed. Having said that, results look pretty encouraging to me. thumbsup.gif

Sorry mate but the reason the results look encouraging is purely down the fact that very, very few of the die hard oldies/nostalgia people use soul source. Polls on this kind of subject are always going to get biased results on here
