Dave Thorley Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Thanks Dave, nothing on refosoul, forgot to mention that I had already checked that. How much is a copy on Riley's.??? Nick Used to be silly money, but now £250-£300, condition, issue/demo and all that. Dave
Prophonics 2029 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) Steptones on Diamond Jim, I really hate this record and cannot understand how it can go for 300 on a demo or an issue, Platters is Ok version. Also I have never been at a club when its played, seems to be one of those records that only appears in sales boxes a bit like records that only appear on tape swappers tapes. bri pinch Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 the tempos version pisses all over the steptones, with its annoying talking bit in the middle never quite got on with it, love the platters lp track. bri pinch
boba Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 the tempos version pisses all over the steptones, with its annoying talking bit in the middle never quite got on with it, love the platters lp track. bri pinch I disagree, the tempos version is terrible compared to the steptones, they are singing way out of tune and it is barely listenable. Just my opinion.
Geoff B Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I disagree, the tempos version is terrible compared to the steptones, they are singing way out of tune and it is barely listenable. Totally agree , I really regret parting with my Tempos , whats the verdict on The Platters - ''I can't get used to sharing you '' of the Going back to detriot album.

SAME HERE MAK, THE PLATTERS IS VERY GOOD, IMHO. STILL GOT THE LP, BUT WE SOLD OUR TEMPOS 45 TO A MATE A FEW YEARS AGO AS WE THORT HIS NEED FOR THE RECORD WAS GREATER THAN OURS.....................IT WASN'T BRI PINCH.
Premium Stuff Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Steptones was my fave record for a long time. I love the out of tune singing and that cheesy 'talking bit in the middle' - gives it character - rough round the edges - makes it real Tempos is also good but not quite in the same league as the Steptones. Platters nice to have but the other two are essential IMO If in doubt, have/get all of 'em Cheers Richard
Guest meddlinwivmodern Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Thanks to all who have replied, my verdict is with the Tempos, will pass it overto my brother. Nick

Dave Rimmer Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I've owned both in the past. Now I've only got The Tempos. Need I say more
Wrongcrowd Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 This is faaaaar better STEPTONES LONELY ONE DIAMOND JIM - Cheers Richard ... always rated this, and whilst the Tempos is decent enough (no idea what you're on Boba), this wins for me..
boba Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 ... always rated this, and whilst the Tempos is decent enough (no idea what you're on Boba), this wins for me.. aren't you agreeing with me about which is better? anyways, the lead of the tempos is singing flat through the whole track. i like the tempos' other records though.
