Steve L text me earlier to let me know. Remember Dean G from his first trips to Wigan with Mark Hopes, Jerry Lynch, and a few others, and some of your bus trips too Phil if I remember correctly. Always had a good word and a smile when we bumped into each other, will remember him very fondly indeed. Dean (Penford)

So sad to hear this. I remember Dean on his first outings to Wigan. He was so full of life and devilment! I was only asking Rob Wigley about him a couple of weeks ago. I'm upset to know that i won't see him again. R.I.P Dean. Chris

Devasted by the news. We spent so many nights together travelling from one end of the country to the other to attend nighters, back in the late 70's and 80's. Certainly led a colourful life and to the full, but his heart was full of soul even to the day he passed away from us. A true soulie and one we will miss. RIP Dean from the 3 JC's. Mark

Very sad news-been in Germany all weekend at Baltic Soul-I'm sure last time i saw him was at the Attic early on (with Paul Wheatcroft ?)-or may have been East Kirby- Dean was younger than us I think 48 ?-I've certainly seen him in the last 2 years-(and that was after 20 years or so)

I will try my best to get to Mansfield Crematorium -on nights Friday night-but fingers crossed

RIP Dean

How very very sad

One of my very first happy soul memories was of Dean and his pals who attended the palais de danse in notts ( notts palais)

He cant have been much older than myself

last time I saw him was attending the grosvenor rooms with the same pals from way back

He was a larger than life character always arms outstretched singing every song!

condolences to family and friends

Well what a sad day it was-but a corker of a service a real laugh from start to finish laugh.gif

The guy conducting the service told it like it was -200 inside and at least another 400 outside-maybe moreyes.gif

A larger than life person and the word "unconventional" seem to crop up more times through out the service than anything else,

-constant feed back from the sound system whenever something was mentioned personal to Dean sent glances and laughs towards the coffin-when Bev was asked what it was like living with dean for 24 years her answer was "Shit"laugh.gif but she'd give anything for another 24 !sad.gif

Even Deans last request was to have his ashes scattered at the place he was most happy-Wigan Casino-was met with laughter as "Its now a shopping centre" "How are we going to get away with that !

"the service end with 3 cheers for Dean hip hip horray"

Even at the Talbot pub for the wake they had bouncers on the door as Mansfield most notorious were in !

A great send off

RIP dean

you used to do my head in sometimes-but I am glad to have known you

What a turn out for Dean rip.

I didnt make the crem but managed to get to the talbot, unbeleviable turn out as you would expect from His Family & friends,,, also from the soul fraternity and from the" Mansfield Mafia so to speakyes.gif"" Dean was a bit of alad " he liked his tastey away & home games with the Stags..wink.gif ,,,.Its a shame his beloved Sheff Wed didnt stay up.

Dean lived life to the full ... i shed tears when Dont depend on me... FJC came on.

Turn out was a credit to the man, his character and his popularity, hundreds and hundreds of soul friends and Biker mates turned out. Never seen anything like it at the crem, pity the poor family who followed. Obviously there was a sadness overhanging, but you had to raise a smile for his memory and the way we all turned out to pay respect to one of our own. Good heart felt words by Jerry Lynch. Sincere best wishes to his close family. Dean (P)

There's a pain in my heart!!!

No-one can know the heartache I have been feeling since the lost of my best buddie and lifelong friend.

It is nice to see the comments and genuine sadness by fellow soul friends.

Sandra has been speaking to Russ Winstanley and we are planning on arranging a trip to The Nirvana club in Wigan on 25th September as Russ is planning a nighter with Dean Parish playing his final gig there live. We are going to be scattering dean.s ashes up there and many family and friends will be making the trip. Have been trying to get hold of Phil Kingswood to see if is he interested so if you read this Phil then please give us a ring. 07738912355 and anyone else who is interested in making the trip!!!!

This will be Dean's final trip to wigan so we can all say farewell to JC1.

Jerry and Sandra.
