Harry Crosby Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Allways wondered why this happened, IE FATHERS ANGELS-BOK TO BACH, was this a HERITAGE recording but not released on the label, only to be released on british, any ideas why this happened? cheers for any replies
Agentsmith Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 not sure myself as the cherry people did get an issue on heritage and uk mgm, seen both issue and demo of uk father's angels as most people have....unusually, saw an american mgm issue at lea manor many years ago and a lot of people thought that didnt exist....perhaps someone else will explain that conundrum, maybe jerry ross thought it should have a major plug as the catholic priest who touted the band, was a friend. rob.h

Fathers Angels were a group of youngsters that were mentored by a priest. The story is now well known that Jerry Ross took a punt on the group and licensed it to MGM. Full story can be found in one of the TTB! issues. If anyone has seen a Heritage Test Press or a US MGM TP I'd love to see a scan of it. Regards, Dave

Also wondering If they would have been given any type of UK or US Press at the time.

harpo1 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 It would, and i'm just expressing my personal opinion, nor indeed questioning anyone elses, be what must be a rare example of the U.S.A. having better "taste" than us on this side of the pond. Maybe, as in the case of certain household cleaning products, or sweets, bok to bak, is cheyenne for "bag of shite"!, and if released would upset some people, where it may however tell scholars that phonetically the translation fits the meaning!!!! LOL PH
