Philly Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Sounded like Leon in the background? You are absolutely right, this is where I picked it up from Philly
Gilly Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Do you know ive been shouting from the roof-tops for a long time now, these tossers who make money today from what they call singing.,dont seem to have any tallant what so ever.Example if anyone watched Paul McCartey on the Jools Holland new years show two years ago will understand,i felt embarrassed for him,i would of advised him to go home and we will contact him iff we can get some work in the working mens clubs. That clip ive just seen on utube is amazing,we need to find out who he is and then BOOK HIM. He can stop with me and Nicola anytime.JUST FANTASTIC
Agentsmith Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I'm not being grumpy or facetious, just sounds like a shouty bloke to me, not saying he can't sing. pete,................IF HE WERE FEMALE................HE'D BE .............LINDA JONES.......yep, he's got the wailing voice but he dont hit a bum note and this clip is so refreshing instead of simon cowell and x-traordinarily boring, mind-numbingly, talentless, wrist slashing shite that calls itself the youth of today. get this guy on stage or theatre or a tvshow to expose just whats being overlooked for the sake of making a quick buck out of a load of nobheads. some of the comments here, nailed it with the fact for a busker he did a bloody good personal interpretation of a classic something todays youth are totally incapable of........geez, theyre no good at doing a decent copycat!!. rob,h

Pete S Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 So you all still think he's so great now you know he's not a homeless busker?
Diggin' Dave Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 So you all still think he's so great now you know he's not a homeless busker? Yep.
Pete S Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Yep. Wasn't that what this was all about though, possibly homeless bloke with great voice having to busk for living, great undiscovered talent...then it turns out he's not so undiscovered after all. You lot have been had.
Sutty Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 he's good, but he's not as good as Anthony Hamilton
Diggin' Dave Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) Wasn't that what this was all about though, possibly homeless bloke with great voice having to busk for living, great undiscovered talent...then it turns out he's not so undiscovered after all. You lot have been had. Nope. It was more about the fact that the man has a great voice for singing acoustically. Whether he's homeless or the president of the Ukraine doesn't really matter for me personally. Edited April 15, 2010 by Diggin' Dave
oldsteve woomble Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Without regressing to my previous post too much, for me it's simply about the combination of the voice, the setting and the potential story behind the story.... And then the pictures that all of that potentially paint...... Even if this had been a total set up, with us all mugged off, then the same pictures would have been there. For example..... And this might be a slightly left-field example but stick with me.... When I watch Quadrophenia (which I feel the need for a couple or 3 times a year at least, especially after an infrequent mod-ish night out.....) I'm transported to another time, another place. Hey, it might not work for everyone, but it works for me.... And the participants therein are basically a combined bunch of late 70's/early 80's revivalist wanabees and screen luvvies running around pretending to be someone they're not. But to me they capture a spirit and allow me to fill in the gaps from my own imagination..... Just like when I listen to Freddie Scott's Mr Heartache and feel much, so much, more than just the words and the notes..... (No, don't worry, sometimes even I don't know what I'm on about either...... ) Anyway, I can't say that anything in the other clips changed that opinion... In fact, the other clips probably enhance the tale, and allow the pictures to be painted just that little bit more vividly ....
vince ayres Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Sorry if it's in the wrong place, but this is brilliant! unbelievable!
Wayoutgirl Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 So you all still think he's so great now you know he's not a homeless busker? Definitely hasn't changed my mind
Guest Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 (edited) Interesting piece of footage and of course he's got a soulful voice. But truth is - as somebody points out earlier - if you spent 6 months touring the smalll Gospel Halls and Chapels of the USA with a video camera, you will come back with footage showing a lot of people who can sing like this. What you won't find is a lot of people who can write and arrange a record as good as 'Just My Imagination'! Edited April 18, 2010 by chorleysoul
