Anyone have any clue how many there are? https://cgi.ebay.com/...=item53e0b52edf I was going to buy it off Dave in Plymouth and maybe I told him it was a different version and he didn't sell it me...anyway, either way, there was one in Plymouth 6 years ago, apart from that, I don't know!
Chalky Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 certainly seen others, but others have had BSC and few details on the label...
KevH Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Didn't one come on ebay a while back? (year or two). Can't get onto popsike, locked myself out.

Guest Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 yeah see the scan above How do you lock yourself out of popsike??? Its probably because he has a static IP address on his router with his provider (as a opposed to the dynamic IP you get normally with service providers) Popsike will let you log on for a certain amount of times before it asks you to register and pay for the service. If you have dynamic IP , when you re-start your PC you will be allocated a new IP address allowing you back on to Popsike again. If you have a static IP address Popsike recognises the IP and requires that IP user to register and pay.

Dave Thorley Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I had the one that was on Ebay a few years back, the scan Chalks put up is the one I have, I have also seen a blank label one as well. Like all test pressing you could have 1-100+ copies depending on the size of the pressing run. But as this was only ever pressed in small numbers the corresponding number of test pressings is gonna be small, say 5 copies at most. It is slightly different, mainly in the mix, rather than a different version. Alround a very sharp, bright pressing and sounds awesome over a big system. I'd say it a rare pressing of a very good Detroit record and I wouldn't part with mine, but maybe it's a bit of a specialty item for many, when they can have an issue for much less. Dave
Pete S Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 The one I was on about didn't have any BSC logos or anything, it was hand written. Dave Gilman was the chap who had it.

Dave Hi Dave, is the one you have the same take as the one on e-bay right now? Sure I have a sound-file somewhere from when the one you got was on the bay.
Samson Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 I agree, seems like a specialty item to me too. Wish I had one but am going to have to live with my stock copy. Would make a real nice re-issue with the issue on one side and Alt on the other. De-to Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 heres the thread we had in 2008 about the b.l alt take, https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/74283-betty-lloyd-test-pressing-on-ebay/page__p__787136__hl__betty%20lloyd__fromsearch__1entry787136
Dave Thorley Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 heres the thread we had in 2008 about the b.l alt take, https://www.soul-sour..._1entry787136 So reading that thread, there is one less now in circulation.
Dave Thorley Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 you`re catching on,dave, I know i'm a bit slow today. so if Tim was selling these back in the 90's at £50 (Issue) and £150 (Test Pressing), is this gonna sell at three times the issue:ph34r:
Dave Thorley Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 isnt this slighty faster than the release Hi Ted There is also an issue up for sale on Ebay. Listen closely to the two sound files and there are some slight tempo changes in there as well as where they have position the brass and piano in the mix. I know I have the test pressing, but I do think the this is the better version. Pays you money and takes your choice. Dave
Samson Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 sh*t! Would've bid if I thought it would sell for the same as the issue does.
Mick Holdsworth Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 sh*t! Would've bid if I thought it would sell for the same as the issue does. Just noticed a Vg only black one go through at $400 - comparing the two it does make you wonder why the white test press was only a little bit more. I think in a bit better condition too. Cheers Mick Holdsworth
Harry Crosby Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Didnt tim ashebende have one of these in the late 70`s early 80`s along with a different take to otis blackwell?, seem to remember something along those lines
