Can someone give me some info on this.

Is / Was it an album only track....what about the British ABC release on 45.

Any help or info appreciated.

not 100% certain but sure it was album only when first spun the uk issue was for the demand. i may be wrong but done some searches and cant find a US issue of 45, was a biggie at Mecca ritz and cleethorpes.

This was released in 1974 on British ABC 4053 you can pick one up for around a fiver.Great track Chris

mark,this track was from an lp called,"the george clinton band arrives" on abc,the 45 was issued in the uk and played (I think) as a new release on the northern scene mid 70s,minds a bit hazy now!!!,heres a couple of links,not sure if p.d.r was a usa 45 release though,unsure.gifph34r.gif

No US release...........former album only................monster for Poke at Cleethorpes..........................Steve Jeffies has one and there are about 3 on Ebay at mo

Yes, it was originally played from the above mentioned LP, then got a UK 45 release on the strength of the popularity.

I first hear it at the Mecca / Ritz, then at Cleethorpes shortly afterwards.

No other 45 that I know of - unless it was released in another country at the same time as the UK 45 release

It wasn't GC doing the vocal was it on Please don't run?

The GC on ABC was a classically trained musician. I found a test press of the album along with a great pic and bio of the guy a few years ago. Songs got one of the greatest breaks ever and a sax solo to rival even the late great Thoma 'Beans' Bowls. Frantic stuff but brilliant out LOUD!!
