I used to love going to the Ritz,nighter on a bank Holiday weekend,cant remember when the last one was,and I think that was the last time I queued for a nighter,the queue was all up Whitworth st.

I liked The ritz because of the diversity of the records that were played .

There was one all - dayer , when Sam was followed by Levine . Sam finished his spot with " Philly Dog Around The World " , and the first one Levine played was " Car Wash "

The floor went silent for a few seconds , then erupted .

Easter sunday 1976 on my way to the Ritz a bloke jumped in front of the train at Heaton Chapel station put me right off my eggs .

Reg was a Tom Jones type performer who always had a massive female following,Legend has it that he was BIG in the downstairs department not sure if it was true but he used to shove the odd sock or two down his kecks,Or so rumour as it,

Another resident artist at the Ritz were "Vic Lezalls Professionals",Don't know anything about them though,anyone got any info,

By May 2005 Bank Hol's Sheridens was up and running.

I DID SOME DECORATING FOR VIC IN THE 80s GRANT, HE LIVED IN NEW MOSTON MANCHESTER, HIS FEMALE SINGERS WERE GORGEOUS!!!! I remember Reg Coates he used to play the Poco a Poco in Stockport He,d swing the mike out over the audience and reel it back in how he never twatted anyone I,ll never know

Most of Sam's mutterings during that spot were aimed at tL , as he knew he was following him . I still think to this day Rushton planned their spots that way because of the ill feeling between them

I was on it as well.Was it a dayer or niter.Whatever happened to Danny?.I'm sure Jim (R.I.P) was on it along with Liam, Paul Sadot and Oscar Romp.There was Danny Huff from Swindon as well who was a telephone salesman and record dealer.Nearly killed me and my girlfriend at the time when he thought he was on a dual carriageway and I had to remind him that was a bus coming towards us and he had better pull across!!. That was on the way to one of Adeys weekenders.Funnily enough the relationship with the girlfriend didn't last long after that.

The Ritz event that stands out in my mind was Boxing Day 1999.

I remember "Move On Up" sudenly coming out of the sound system on the announcement that Curtis Mayfield had just passed away.

Dont know whether you mean the allnighters or alldayers. Went to both. Funny one was at the alldayers on a Sunday Bank holiday. With a crowd from Stockport. The bar was only open till 2.00pm then reopened at 1900p.m. we were upstairs in the afternoon and nearly got thrown out for flicking suger cubes of the balcony on to the dancefloor. Always remember it cause when it was finished we went into an a curry house just near Piccadilly. My mate who had no cash said after seeing the menu,"I will have the popadoms with chutney sauce", which was priced at 4p. The waiter replied "what would you like for the main cource ". At which he replied "that is my main cource". We just fell about laughing and in the end walked out.
