kevinsoulman Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 when stevie left motown in the early 70s did he release anything on another label,or did he just use motown as an outlet for his product. kev
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 i had no idea he left and the only releases i know of are all on Motown. doubt he ever had time to record for another label with all the released stuff on Motown
Djmelismo Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 As far as I know he´s stayed faithful to Motown all the time, not recording for any other label. He did however record (for Motown) under the name of Eivets Rednow (his name spelt backwards) an album of instrumentals. This was his "secret" album...lol... Also of course he has guested on other people´s albums, duetting, co-writing, producing etc, sometimes outside of Motown.
Dave Pinch Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 think he`s still with motown via universal. never been with anyone else dave
kevinsoulman Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 i'm 99.9% certain he left motown when he reached 21 then negotiated the best contract any artist had got from motown a year later when he was looking for an outlet for his music of my mind lp. kev
Dave Pinch Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 dont think he left as such. in 1971 at the same time as whats going on marvin gaye was the first to negociate himself a decent contract giving him artistic control etc. when stevies was up for renewal just after he just thought he deserved something similar thats all dave
