Just letting you know if you own the PES 45 it's a boot, done by some guy in Florida, Kenny is currently going through the US Justice System with a claim against the guy.

The only official release of Kenny Hamber version of this song is the 12" on MILLION DOLLAR ENTERTAINMENT.

Looks like it's also been booted on IT'S SOUL TIME but with "Anything You want" on the flip side.

JM has the PES as an original with a £100 price guide

Original 12" seem to be on the net from $50 up.

Thought it was commonly know that the PES release was boot, probably pressed for the beach scene. I think the reason for the high price is that people covert the 7" format more than the 12" format.

Sorry to read this, but it was never clear mist with the PES 45 many years ago, then the B side was, well lets leave it there. But then the London modern lads always claimed twas, still is a boot. Been a thread or two on here about it's non original 45 format. Thanks Funyfeet still own the 12 on MDE, sold the PES 102 via JM auction April 2007 ohmy.gif .

I'm might be wrong but I thought the release on It's Soul Time was a legit reissue, released to promo the "Best Of" CD that came out about the same time.

When I spoke with Kenny he didn't say anything about the It's Soul Time release so I presume he doesn't know about it. I'll double check with him to see what the score is with it.

AND IF THERE WAS AN ORIGINAL 7" TO CORRESPOND WITH THE 12", SURELY IT WOULD BE ON MILLION DOLLAR ENTERTAINMENT.

Always thought the 7" were boots cos when i got my 12" off a friend,he told me he bought it has a new release and there was no 7".Clears that one upthumbsup.gif

Don't wish to drag this issue out, but in hindsight that's an easy fact to assume above, due to the fact that some of us were only aware of the 45 edit, when a small batch of sevens appeared, at the time Sam was playing the seven as a new release. I for one was to learn some years later that a 12" did get released. Thanks.

Would agree Dave not the best version, but probably one of the most sung songs by america soul artists.

Have a great easter chaps hatsoff2.gif .

the PES 45 never really sells for any money on ebay so ive never understood why it should be a lot of money on lists or in boxes. not the best version by a mile IMO

dave

Simple really JM has it priced at £100 so everyone follows suit, on popsike it has been selling for more than the original.

Thank you Funkyfeet for the info, we've now priced it @ £15.00 it's on the site right now. Anyone who bought it from us at any other price, website credit for the difference you paid, is being added to your file, use it on whatever you wish.

At the time we auctioned it nobody including me had any idea is was not legit. But the different artists on the flip should have set of alarm bells but that's not uncommon. Some years back, Soul Sam had paid strong money, long for it before we auctioned it, so that gave the 45 validity at the time.

For the record it sold on auction 3 years ago for just over £200 not £400. The winner now has the credit difference on his file, we shall be writing to him to confirm that.

For Funkyfeet's interest the highest price paid for a Northern Soul boot is £284.00 for Eddie Foster - multi-coloured vinyl on IN 29/07/2004

Not wanting to get sucked into this any further, but whilst corrective action is being taken and a recent clearer identity of this 45, seeks confirmation.

I am sure John will amend as the outcome or even remove from the next concise edition in due course.

Sorry - whilst off thread typing the above post, posts 16 and 17 appeared in support of corrective action.

Thank you.

Strewth Cunnie - that is amazing. What's so worrying is that there must have been two people bidding on it that high!

Didn't one or two DJs Yorkshire way get caught out with John & Weirdest reissues too? Or did I dream that?

GOB SMACKED - £561 for a boot of Herbert Hunter, think I only got a tenner when I ebayed mine.angry.gif

You mean the John & Wierdest boots that turn brown when held up to the light?

Might be true then as most of us Yorkies are so tight we wouldn't turn the light on:laugh:

Anyone else seen the irony in Tim Brown getting duped by a Brown recordwhistling

Anyway back on topic. Calling this Cunnie's revenge on all the folks who have laughed at me over the years for alway's prefering the 12" option over the 7".

Paid a pittance for my 12" of Kenny Hambler when all around me were paying silly money for the 7" boot.

Knew my day would come:hatsoff2:

PS Steve, prefered the old avatar fella.

Time for all those Mr Mr Manship vocal critics on here to eat some humble pie on here methinks....... laugh.gif:lol:

And let's hope that pie will make them difficult to speak for a while, so we can have John posting again.

Yes that's them. So I didn't dream it.

Re the avatar - I was getting grief from other Palace fans on here since we are playing his new club on Sat and it's a veritable 12 pointer.
