Calling All Members

new feature - event/member map now open

dynamic map showing all the latest events (that have had locs added) in a number of ways

and a dynamic map showing members locations (those who have entered it)

https://www.soul-sour...odule=membermap

if aint done it yet, its a 5 sec affair to enter your location

why would you wanna do such a thing ?

main reason is that if do add- you then have a one click link to all events in your own area

ie your very own event map

there are other reasons why , future improvements - can expand features, a data sort of trip- offers a graphical report on members, may come in handy forstuff like sales/wants close by, members near ya , members not so near ya, add a bit of interest and could at times be a bit of a laugh laugh

can see current members locs here

https://www.soul-sour...odule=membermap

add yours via the button in top right

bit confused as the map doesnt show my correct location its got me in the city centre ! LOL

when adding your own location - it depends on what you enter in the box

it then gives you a choice of locations that match what you entered

try the update location and enter some specfic stuff

with events - you can now get it spot on

however with members - would say not as much need

town/area do the trick - privacy and all that?

gonna be kicking this up a few times today and tomorrow

the member side is one of those sort of members features that the more are on it the more worthwhile/interesting it becomes

so if having a look ask take the 5 secs to add your location

I can see this feature being invaluable when arranging lifts!

yep

main thrust is the "event" side as in can tailor events display to your location

but imo can add another aspect to most features on here the site

as ya say lifts

plus off top of my head

selling/buying - "see you live in thrillsville i can pick up instead ......"

shop/business - "see my location"

social side - all sorts of use here

plus if gets used can tag it onto other features

thumbsup.gif to all those who have added

rest of ya get in there and enter your location

help add another aspect to the site

Scooby dobby doo where are you?

Soul Source "Map Feature"

We have a new feature the SoulMap, there are some interesting things to come from this, you can zoom in and out to see just how may isolated or clusters of Soul Source members there are, at the moment no one has registered from Australia or the States? I'm sure this will come?

We now have an at a glance idea where the Soulies are, well certainly those Soul Sourcers who have registered.

We see that there are a number of concentrated areas and we can also see some rather isolated Soul Sourcers such as Ian in Ireland, Mshoals in Holland and Dave in Belgium.

Looking at GB we see some clusters hugging the M1 from Nottingham to York forming a very narrow band and not bleeding too far from this corridor?

There is a health smatter in the North West, and a "cross" like pattern in the midlands.

We have a "horse shoe" pattern around London, Cambridge and Kent.

Further South there are a small membership who hug that coast and looking West towards South Wales we see Pembroke and Newport showing

North of York we see a stretch of membership reaching up towards Glasgow and Aberdeen.

My first impression on this is that we see a concentration around the areas that have a long history and dare I say the origins of Northernsoul with the north of England seeing the most clusters.

This is a quick snap shot of our locations but the SoulMap feature is very new and I am sure we will see some interesting locations gathering with time. I would like to see just how many people have "moved" to the more exotic locations compared to those local who enjoy the phenomena that is Northernsoul.

smiling here Simon

what's that geezers name of the election nite programmes ?

laugh.gifthumbsup.gif

I've been in there a lot last few days and is quite interesting looking at what's showing up so far

early days yet but patterns starting to show and gets interesting when compare it to the event map

have hit the 3 figures now but still loads to drop in and add their location

no apologies for banging on about this

get over 1200 physically logging in every day on here

only takes 5 secs to add, not a lot to ask

so if you're not on there, before you do what ever you do on here drop in and drop your location

as it says below...

the member side is one of those sort of members features that the more are on it the more worthwhile/interesting it becomes

so if having a look ask take the 5 secs to add your location

I have always loved Maps although I can't seam to read on to save my life but as far as train spotters go I have loved maps old and new.

Google are boss or it seams in the electronic mapping and I love the hybrid and satellite features that give a relatively new slant to our big blue marble we call earth.

I think its ace that we can see the footprint globally of Soul Source and it makes it all just that little bit more real. I have for a long time though away from the silly cyber space attitude and I never really liked the anonymity of the net, this suits me fine to be able to add another dimension to who makes up our forum community and it makes me feel now that we are neighbors and that is a good thing indeed.

I see Rob1159 registering from the West Coast of America, hope the weather is better there but my old mat Jan tells me you have had some rain? Not far from Malibu, that is such an exotic place and one of the zillions I have never been to!

Rob1159 are you an ex pat? You're the first state side Soul searcher to SoulMap!

Come on Ozz where are the sunshine Soulies?

I know we have a few of our German cousins who have yet to register, nice to see Silvia and Michel at Prestatyn at the weekend.

Mr Cuerden, you only live about 5 miles from me. The place is a pigsty at the moment due to decorating and other things (like having four grown up stepdaughters living here) but once my music room is fully functional again please feel free to pop over for a cuppa and a listening session.

South east of Bristol, east of Warminster!

Mega to see just how isolated Imber was, getting the coach to Warminster then a tractor ride over the downs to get to the village, usually late!

I can remember one evening on my way to the soul club, crossing a muddy turnip field wearing a leather coat and Polyvelts and getting chased by the lady boys from Upton Scudamore! I still write to one of them.

Gordy, thanks for the invite!

Hi Mike

Just put myself on the soulmap and it found me spot on, but how did it pick my picture up out of the gallery? I didn`t know that I was in there myself!

Great idea though

Hi Graeme

it just picks up your avitar automatically

OK why can't I get it to work, I put in my location (wolverhampton, uk) and it says it doesn't exist. That may be wishful thinking for some but not me.

pete

its fairly general

it should work off town names

when enter it should then offer a list of suggestions - you then click on best one

just try wolverhampton by itself

if doesnt work

make sure on the members map and zoomed in on uk

if still no joy shout up and will try and see whats up

Wasn't sure do do this as pm or on here but I thought it might be relevant to others...

The Benn Hall is on a long road (Newbold Road) that goes right into the village, in the opposite direction from the motorway.

If done via the post code, the pic is of the wrong end, near the village.

Is there anyway of positioning the pushpin manually on the google map?

Top Tip

When adding your location doesn't just rely on the post code, try a few permutations of your address to see what gets you closest to your house.

My postcode but me some ways off but I managed to get almost smack on by dropping the post code and adding my full address.

Note to self, tell our lass not to sunbath topless! I can not believe you can see her spuds!
