Rob Wigley
We were recently lent a pile of paper memorabilia by our good mate Nick Sunday Times mags, Selecta disc lists, Ticket stubs Soul Bowl stuff etc In amongst the papers was this Sometime around 1974/75 someone in Bournmouth started a "Record lending service " for all the top sounds of the day. interesting "Rules" No names on the sheet, but basically borrow the top sounds of the day for a month, return them, enclose 25p and they send you another top sound Now am I cynical or how many do you think they got back ? Anyone use this service ? or know anything about it Rob & Karen Link to comment Social source share

Rob Wigley
mmm What would 25p be worth today? Would they of made any money out of that? P I also saw it advetised in the back of a magazine he lent me on a previous batch of stuff-now there were a lot of soulies in the Bournmouth area at that time-but its not a massive place-so anyone know who was behind it ?? Not sure if there was a joining fee or what just might have been a scam ? Rob Link to comment Social source share
Missing Link
If my memory serves me correctly it was Keith 'Mr. Magic' Clarke who lived in Tregonwell Road, Bournemouth. He used to have a record shop but I don't remember him renting records out. He used to DJ at Pandora's in Boscombe with Steve Sheppard circa '74, '75. Guest WPaulVanDyk
Well if this got like borrowing CD's from liabray then the records would be unplayable by the end of a year. crazy idea but today imagine how many people who want to DJ would buy the biggest hits to play out Link to comment Social source share
