Sebastian Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Some great stuff UK only Carl Douglas-Crazy Feeling This did get a US issue on Okeh as well. The UK issue is the original issue though, so for me personally the one to own.
Benji Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Great stuff, Gene released quite a lot of records. Suprised there hasn't been a comp.Im sure he was asian as Ive a pic cover from 66/67 where he is wearing an earring.Who was the bloke that did Hey Little Boy on CBS? The guy that did Hey Little Boy on CBS is probably James Royal, isn't it? Great singer with a fantastic voice (tho more of a pop crooner than blue eyed soul brother). Gene Latter sure wasn't asian, he had an arabian background. Funny Face Girl came out in Germany too, below scan of the picture sleeve. Lovely and catchy poppy dancer that to me sounds like a blue print for the recent Lord Large feat. Dean Parrish track - Left right and center.

Tony Wilson-What Did I Do Jimmy Thomas-Springtime Notations-Need Your Love (Great track on Chapter One Records) Mixtures-Monkey Jazz (this sounds like moondance....ten years before Moondance) The James Galt Tracks In My Own Way and a Most Unusual Feeling (got a spare US copy on Arora although Im sure he is British) James Royal is the guy on CBS. I posted uop a pic of the Notations on demo earlier on. James Galt included members of McGuiness Flint* who had a couple of hits in the early 70's. Keep listing the obscure ones mate, theres some that I don't know and that always gets me excited! *That should say 'included Gallacher & Lyle'

Jez Jones Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) Fantastic scans lads ,well done ---great to see both Levi and Soloman--Beautiful Day. Its been far too long since I've seen those It was always great to see the year written on the British labels. It must be and age thing cos we used to talk about year of release when comparing British stuff Now in keeping with the 'Beautiful' theme, wouldn't it be great if some kind soul could post a label scan of Jimmy Thomas Beautiful Night on Parlophone... Wiggyflat Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Thanks Ken but whats that got to do with my question about Polydor? Pete I love that Paradox label.Do you know of anything else on it?.Just remembered a few records I have on the CMM label red and blue UK.Will dig them out. .
Chalky Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Collecting British never really bothered me for some reason. Always looked at it as a collector of US Rare SOul so the US copy is what I wanted. Did have some of course, Jackie Burns & The Belles - I Do The Best I Can - UK MGM while it was still covered up by Guy, Esther Philips - Just Say Goodbye nice black issue that everytime I played out someone wanted to buy off me. PP Arnold silver issue which I paid 50 pence for. Must admit the UK white/red/green and white demos do look nice. Sound quality often better too to these lug oles when compared to US issue.

I think it's CBM isn't it - Maynell Wilson "Motown Feeling", a track who's title is better than the actual record - I also had a girl dancer on that label.
