Thanks for the replies lads, I actually had it many years ago on UK Bell

and rember playing it to various mates who all thought it was shite:lol:

but it certainly has one hell of a beat to it imho.

I've had this since the mid 70's, always had a soft spot for it!

Mines a UK demo also...

But can't say as I ever heard it played out. I always thought of it as a Southern (UK) play, that probably got played down south in the funk clubs at that time.

Anyone confirm this?

Hi Swifty,

This is a brilliantly weird tune. One of my guilty pleasures!

Not sure how to describe it myself but here's the description by that wakky dude 'Music Mike' on his "Flashback Favourites" channel at the Dailymotion.

"Funky Organ, Fuzzy Guitar, Cool Hand Claps And A Groovy Narrating Voice Make "Mr. Penguin Part 1" A Lot Of Fun! In The Style Of "Dance To The Music" By Sly & The Family Stone, The Group "Lunar Funk" Gave Us A Perfect Slice Of Get Down Northern Soul During 1972. It was in the charts for 8 weeks and made It To #63."

Not sure it comes near to "Get Down Northern Soul" But it is Cool Baby - Yeh..

Regards,

Greg.

This used to get played at local discos like Eastwood Go Go (well it's local to me laugh.gif ) in the early 70's and I'm sure it got the odd spin at Notts Palais too.

All the best

Does sound awesome loud though and admit not to a lot of peoples choice

but hey! I like it.
