Davetay Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) Quite sure this'll get booted off to freebasing, but here we go..... Charles Johnson-Never Had A Love So Good Brand New Heavies-Stay This Way The Elgins- Heaven Must Must Have Sent You Loads really but none spring to mind at the moment. It could be song I have not heard for a while, a song that reminds me of someone who is no longer with us. A song that reminds me of something I have done in the past etc. Edited March 11, 2010 by davetay
Jumpinjoan Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 One that always makes me a little emotional when ever and where ever I hear it is Little Samson - Don't Take Your Love - El D. I am reaching for the tissues just typing it
manus Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Quite sure this'll get booted off to freebasing, but here we go..... Charles Johnson-Never Had A Love So Good Brand New Heavies-Stay This Way The Elgins- Heaven Must Must Have Sent You Anything that costs more that I can really afford Webby And Cissy Houston's He/I believe/I'll be there - not really tears as such but fairly strong emotions and there are a fair few more that hit the same spot mabye not quite as intensely as Cissy Houston. When I hear Jimmy Ruffin's Farewell I'm a spotty kid again in a ski jacket at Wrekenton Miners Welfare in 1969 - there's nothing that makes you sense the past more that a piece of music IMO and quite often with a mixture of happiness and sadness. Cheers Manus
KevH Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Dean Barlow - 3rd window from't right.Makes me weep buckets.
TheBigO Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 For me its always Soul Bros 6 'I'll Be Loving You', pure class, emotional and a record I always spin for all our friends who didn't make it (Linda, Rob K, Del etc) Many a teardrop falls during the course of the toon.

Sean Hampsey Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Only this Saturday afternnon, I filled up listening to Willie Hutch's incredible "Walking on My Love". Caught me by surprise really. I've always liked the record... but it just floored me at that particular moment. A private moment, that I'm only sharing with you, because you asked. But seriously, this is an underrated true Soul gem. The Lyric, Vocal and Production are Absolute Perfection! One day, when you least expect it... when your heart is unprotected! This is JUST SOUL! Listen and weep. Sean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVp8aKxadG0

Guest Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 LOADS OF TUNES HAVE BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE BUT THE TWO THAT STAND OUT ARE RAY POLLARD THE DRIFTER AND CODY BLACK MR BLUE ,FIRST TIME I HEARD THESE MANY MOONS AGO WAS WHEN I REALISED THAT SOUL WAS MORE THAN JUST MUSIC IT WENT MUCH DEEPER THAN THAT . I THINK ITS FAIR TO SAY IT BECOMES A PART OF YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER . THE LAST SOUL TUNE I SHED A TEAR OVER RECENTLY WAS RANDY BROWN ID RATHER HURT MYSELF Kieran
Mark S Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Funny thing this soul music it works on such a viceral level , no particular tune for me it can be any tune , it catches me all the time today it was Bunny Sigler let the good times roll (I am going through a wheel phase ) tomorrow it will be something else .

Daved Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 His eye is on the sparrow - Lauryn Hill Which CD is that from Nancy? Is it a cover of the Marvin Gaye song? (not that he did it first - it's a very old song I believe) Frank McComb did a good version too

Guest becchio Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Jackie beavers - iv got a love - because it reminds me why i love dancin to this awesome music and also the lasses in my life . Ashanti- rescue- because of same as above re soul (alnite long take me away to another place save me) and the friends iv lost along the way (the sirens) . Celine dion - think twice - a real girly song and because it reminds me of a time when, to my deep shame, i contemplated suicide and shoudnt have because i had responibilitys to young people . And loads and loads more songs too many to mention . Oh no im playing them and crying again
