Pulled it out of a very dusty corner this week for probably the first time since. Well what a lovely surprise, gorgeous tunes indeed. Anybody else listened to it?

Agreed, 'tis a fantastic LP something for everyone on this LP from Jazzy tunes ala The Creator, Jazz Funkers - Stella, plus beautiful soul ballads - title track and Listen. Album Features Eleanor Mills. Easily obtained and essential. Good call Dennis Pat

The amount of superstars that he has had on his records (many before they were discovered is mind boggling). NC can do no wrong in my eyes. "This is your life" LP is brilliant, but for me there is one track on it that stands out as one of the greatest soul ballads ever - "Listen" featuring former lead singer with Change - James "Crab" Robinson, that last note makes me want to weep.
sircharles Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Does he get too much credit for alot of his work. For instense "Once I've been there" is actually Phillip Mitchell, and Michael Henderson seems to get subtle mention on where he writes basically a whole album!

He nurtures young talent, he's a top class producer and arranger both for himself and on many other artists work, and has worked with the very best. Not quite sure where you are coming from on the Michael Henderson thing. Michael is indeed talented, but I'm not sure what whole LP you could be claiming that he wrote? He had 2 songs on "You are my starship" and just 1 on "Saturday Night Special". Sure, Mr.C wouldn't be anywhere near as well regarded without the vocalists that have worked with him, but his ability to choose them and provide the perfect setting is phenomenal. Here's a partial list off the top of my head of some vocalists he has used; Jean Carn, Phylllis Hyman, Angela Bofill, Eleanore Mills, Al Johnson, Michael Henderson, Spencer Harrison, Leon Ware, Peabo Bryson, James Robinson, Glenn Jones, Juanita Dailey, Howard Hewett, Phillip Mitchell, Gabrielle Goodman, Christopher Williams, Adaritha, Denise Stewart, Beau Williams What a line up.

He had 2 songs on Ya Im just always curious as to who wrote the actual tracks, You just assume when an albums got an artist name on the cover they wrote the songs. But it doesn't seem so with alot of his LP's is all. Im sure he's a genius, I just take issue with that.
