Twisted Wheel Blue Plaque Project

We are nearly at the end of completing and submitting our evidence to the EHB/NAG/MCC.

I know some "wheelers" are scepticle about such things, but we are genuine soulful people just trying to win

this award for the Club. we need YOUR support and donations. Visit our f/b group and join the other 913

members we have so far.

NOT exactly an Indipendence Day speech...but here goes :-)

(as for the few negative comments weve had), may I add, all my life I have promoted the Twisted Wheel Club,

and the soulful way of life. Ever since it closed in 71, in 74, I founded with others, the Twisted Wheel Scooter Club

and we played all wheel records to keep the name going, right upto 1985. some on here, and others have slated

us for adding the Real fab 4 onto our group title, simply because they wish to dissasociate themselves from the

baggy pants and the strange world of Northern Soul... Let me tell you, The Wheel is my FIRST LOVE...and I will never

forget the great times I had there growing up, but if the Wheel is my WIFE then the Torch, the Mecca and

the Casino are only my mistresses, but I will never forsake them, because they comforted me during the bleak

times after The Wheel closed. and we should never forget that, havent we all been to these venues?

We are just genuine wheel members, who may not make it down to every seesion these days, but we asked Pete

and the Club owners first if they minded if we took up the gauntlet after he failed in the first attempt to get the EHB

plaque, Pete, & Julian gave us his blessing, and we just quietly got on with it, until we were accepted in this years

applicants. thats it, no hidden agenda, no making a few bob on the name of the club, just genuine soul fans trying our

best. NOW we need YOUR support to raise the funds to pay for this thing, and we hope you will back us. Its not Liveaid

millions, its just £500 - £2000. Donations of £2 or £200 will all be acknowledged if we win, and even if we dont we WILL

still have "something" commissioned for the Club.

We have a number of fund raising events due for 2010, if the soul community wish

to support us, then it will happen quicker. As a small group of 10 volunteers working our tripes off, but we are

determined to do our best in the competition to win "OUR" Club this EHB award against very stiff North West competition.

If ever there was a cause worth helping as a soul fan, this must be it. Please tell all your friends to support this project.
